yes definitely E.L. that show will leave you on edge for hours afterward, and Gantz is so violent that the Japanese TV broadcast was actually censored if I recall correctly.

Berserk....????......I thought that had nudity.

I don't think your friend is going to have much hope avoiding nudity and shojo entirely. (You mentioned Love Hina, that has shojo.)

Damn almost forgot, Yu Yu Hakushou. Fist fighting, some blood, more serious than DBZ, and a cast full of punks.

let's see...opening the anime vault in my mind...Lady Death is pretty KILL KILL KILL with lots of blood and if i remember correctly no sexual nudity. some suggestive themes, yes, but that's to be expected from any anime

umm...Naruto has no guns and no sexual nudity...MAJOR suggestive themes, but no nudity. It's got plenty of blood in the fights *points to invasion of Konoha Village at Middle Ninja Exam* but other than Gaara and Orochimaru no one is really in a KILL KILL KILL mode. i'll think more on it later, but these should do for now.
