Both, kinda, I would say. AMVs are my one and only hobby in general, I'm crazy after them, but I also watch alot of anime without a thought of using them in an AMV first.

But well yeah, it can be said that I spend around the same amount of time watching AMVs as watching Anime, but I rather work on an AMV than doing the latter. Then again, almost all the time I spend in the internet goes to the AMV Community, only a little goes into looking for new Anime and such.

No. I'm into AMVs because I like anime, not the other way around.

Well, You can't really find good anime in here, but well, I still get to watch it, and yes, I only watch more anime in order to edit more AMV's.

Anime. I watch and have copious amounts of it.

I've found that watching AMVs tends to get me interested in a series that I might not watch otherwise.

I go in a very extreme cycle of anime/amv/other stuff. I will spend all my time on anime for a period of time, then here a song adn spend all my time on an amv for awhile. Then i will go for a long time without any of either one. The thing is that whichever part of the cycle i am in, i get completely absorbed adn end up spending all of my free time on whatever it is, and nothing else.

I'm more into anime than AMV. Of course, depending on the moments, I'll feel more hyped about editing and "making something with an anime I like" than about "only" sitting and watching; however, I wouldn't get an anime that I don't like just for the footage and the hopes of making an AMV to it (I don't have that much money to throw through the window :P).

On the other hand, it IS true that watching AMVs has allowed me to get interested in some anime that I'd probably have overlooked if not for the vids made to them. It's also true that if I didn't like anime in the first place, I very likely wouldn't be interested in AMVs either.

When I first got into anime I was really a hardcore anime nerd sort of person... I would watch every single anime that I could, watching hours of it every day. When I eventually got into AMVs, my interest in anime began dwindling little by little. These days, I really don't even watch anime anymore. I'll occasionally watch an episode or 2 of something, decide it sucks, and go back to not watching anything. I honestly wouldn't care if I never saw another anime again in my life. Not to say that I wont... because I probably will. It's just no longer something thats important to me.

My love for amvs though has only grown, and pretty much completely replaced the need that I had for anime. I've even used anime for amvs that I haven't even watched a single episode of... So yea, AMVs all the way.

How do you get inspired to make an AMV then? Is it mechanical for you?

I usually watch a given anime and if I truly liked it, I form a concept for the project.
