AMV For You, or AMV for Me?

I have to disagree with the myself part. Yes, it's a hobby and I make it to have fun, but I would not say it's just for myself. In that case, why would you enter it into contests or even put it up for download for people you don’t even know to download it?
BUT it's not for gaining popularity or winning contest either, my main reason is that it's my way of contributing to the happiness of the world. What I mean by that is that there is so many depressing things out there that even if one of my videos makes someone laugh or get enjoyment from it for a few minutes, it’s worth it. It one more happy person out there for that moment and it’s the best I can do right now with the talents I have

I enjoy the making of AMVs. The proccess itself is lots of fun, like building a great model or puzzel. When I finnish an AMV I put it on the internet so other people can enjoy it. Usualy I dont watch mine after completion, cause whenever I look at them it's like reflecting at the past, especialy what went wrong, and what could have been done better

For the sake of art as itself, for the sake of AMVs as themselves and for the sake of me as myself.

Well, the simple answer is:
Myself first, close personal friends 2nd, the general amv watching community 3rd.
Yes, I enter cons, and am thrilled just to make finals or be on the playlist. Yes, I sometimes agonize over star ratings and ops and shriek with glee when a video does well. But, at the end of the day, if what I've put together pleases *me*, then I go to bed happy...no matter what anyone else says or thinks about it.
At least that's what I tell myself anyway.

i usually find that if i please myself first that i will eventually please others as well. The more AMVs I watch/make the higher my standards get, so if i please myself first THEN show it to friends they like it, and maybe the rest of the world will like it too....ecoy:. wrote:Both.
Why not kill two birds with one stone? It seems to me a lot of folks have a black & white view on this subject. I Make AMVs that please both me and the fans/audience.
but you cant please everyone...
my QCs are deffinately proof of that...

Hear hear... it's the main reason why I enter videos into conventions. I gain satisfaction in knowing the viewer's reaction to my videos, more than any recognition I might be given (of course, winning something is proof that I've done something right but that's not my main motivation).Vlad G Pohnert wrote:BUT it's not for gaining popularity or winning contest either, my main reason is that it's my way of contributing to the happiness of the world.
