It kind of depends on who you ask. A couple of theories are:
One thing everybody pretty much agrees on is that it's not a perky happy ending. The last few episodes can be real tear jerkers if you're the type to get invested in characters.spoiler? wrote: 1) Cheza 'flowers, and spreads the seeds of life through the new world, heralding the end of the ice age.
2) Everybody dies, the world grinds to a horrible end and we learn that paradise isn't a real place so much as a state of mind as witnessed by the end clips.
3) Everybody dies, everything sucks.
4) paradise is a dreamstate, and the wolves are the only ones able to attain it.
5) everybody dies, everything is irrelevant.

Yeah i was thinking about those theories and also i thought that the place they showed at the end was paradise. It was Kiba's mixed with Darcia. They showed Darcia eye, which was what was left of him, get dissolved, and caused this black color thing. I was also thinking that what you said end of ice age and stuff, but they showed Kiba running in the end, showing that he was still going to try and find paradise. I don’t know for sure, but I know that Darcia’s eye dissolving and how they showed Kiba running had a significant meaning. What do you guys think.

*SPOILERS*
Wolf's Rain is still a favorite of mine because it is one of the few anime's I have seen that methodically, systematically, and mercilessly kills off EVERY major character. (So what if they show back up as humans in the quasi-paradise. There was a very good chance that they wouldn't.)
And as for meaning, I have to agree with Kushal. Ultimately paradise is found and the flower does bloom as it was supposed to. But because a part of Dracia tainted it, the end result was the present day. (Honestly though, the present day is a lot better than what they were living in.)
