The other 1% is inthesto, obviously. Or it is due to the statistical margin of error. You decide.

I´m the wrong person for balanced amvs, ´cause I always focus on a few things. I don´t want to make them. I´ve I have an idea for such an amv I will do it. I just want my fun with editing. I don´t change myself for the masses.

Also I don´t think, that an action amv needs a story line. If there is a line, I say thank you, but I am still pleased with pure action. Ok on point: There shouldn´t be a mass of different animes, that doesn´t fit together and sty in contrast.

Comedy-amvs... Yes a lot of them are just overrated. A few jokes does not pay for lame wmv quality etc.

Romance videos: If it doesn´t disturb the flow... There should be always a storyline and a few timing.

Well, considering there's more than 100 viewers or editors in the world, I think the answer is pretty obvious.

I don't think that it matters how many of those videos exist. You can dislike them all you want. As has already been stated, this is a hobby. The only thing I think that matters is that you have fun and enjoy doing it. There are people who enjoy making "flavor of the week" videos, and there are others who enjoy watching them. It's all a matter of perspective, and I don't think that your contest is going to change that, or that the people who watch your contest are going to care. They're simply watching it to have a good time.

as Vlad said... it is possible to be objective.

I have seen videos for shows I hated... they were well edited enough or had a good story that made them fantastic. Same for a song I hated... hell, dwchang's Glory of Love vid is one of them. Great video, but 80's sap is not my taste in music. I like a good range of anime and try to keep an open mind on a vid that mgiht use an obscure anime or off kilter approach. And I also look at any of the uber popular vids at any given moment and think many of them were incredibly overrated. But that makes sense when most of the people on the site dominantly watch shows on television. Can't fault them for it.

But yes people vote based on what they perosnally like. It is fine for choosing something downloaded on the org but in contests.... its why only naruto/fma/advent children vids seem capable of winning any fan based awards anymore. It's just the popular stuff right now that everybody knows. No use bithcing or trying to change it.

Eh, conventions are already limited to the "anime" subset, why on earth you'd want to limit yourself to judges in the AMV-anime subset of a subset is beyond me. Our contests would be stupid like the Oscars are stupid.
