I can answer the technical editing question. Any video entered in any category is eligeble for the best technical editing award. So enter your vid in the category you think it best falls into and it will still be considered for the editing award as well. Masters entries are only eligeble for the masters award and should be videos that have allready won a major award (not honorable mention and not online contest) at another con. The masters is intended to be a best of the best category and a way to let fans see what really top notch editing looks like. I can't answer the upload issues but I'll bring it to Anna May's attention as soon as she's available.

Yeah, I tried uploading last night, but it timed out on me when I woke up. After a couple more tries earlier, I got the upload finishedScintilla wrote:... I left my video uploading over last night. Now I come back to check on it and I can't get through to www.metroconventions.com -- all my pings are timing out. Is it just me or is the server down?

Categories are basically just to help us figure out what category you intended your video to fall under... Sometimes there are drama videos that we can't tell if they were intended as action or drama... And sadly, sometimes we can't tell when the comedies are supposed to be comedy. But if your video doesn't fit into any category, no sweat, just select Any. It'll still be judged for whatever category the judges think it fits into best. Also, Technical Editing is really just a way of drawing special attention to it if you think your video's technical editing is a cut above and that's what you'd like to see it judged for.Scintilla wrote:So, basically, the "Any" category means "I can't decide, choose one for me"? Because I don't know if mine would go better in Drama or Technical Editing.
And does "MASTER'S CATEGORY (winning AMV at other cons)" mean that the video has to have won at other cons already, or just that the person submitting it has won stuff at other cons before?
Also, how much black leader do you need before and after each video, if any?
Like Ma said, the video has to have won at a previous con.
As for black leader, don't worry about it. It's appreciated but not necessary; we'll have our own bumpers for each category between each winner.
Does this "HMMMMMMMMmmmmm" mean you're entering?Koopiskeva wrote:HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMmmmmmm

As for uploading issues, if you're still concerned and want to verify that your video was uploaded, PM me the video title so I can find it and I'll see if it's on the entry list. The Metrocon staff is working as hard as they can to keep the website stable... This upload function is completely new territory for them, it's the first year they've ever attempted it and a lot of bugs still need to be worked out. Hopefully things will run a little smoother next year!

Okay, here's what keeps happening (in Opera, Mozilla, AND Internet Explorer 6):
I can hit "Submit" and start the upload chugging along fine, but when it finally finishes, the frame on the right part of the page that had previously contained the submission form goes blank, and nothing happens. There's no indication anywhere that it succeeded, and when I reload the page, the "AMV Submissions Total:" figure is still exactly the same number as before I tried to submit.
I must have tried this at least six or seven times by now.
The file I'm trying to upload is a 247 MB MPEG-2.
Is anyone else having this problem? I e-mailed the AMV-related address AnnaMayBelle gave upthread asking what to do but have not received a response.

Anyhow, a serious reply (because I didn't have time to write one yesterday).Scintilla wrote:No; what does that have to do with anything?IcyCloud wrote:Scint, are you actually planning on attending the contest ?
Just kinda struck me as odd that someone from NJ would choose to premiere their vid at a Florida con rather than a local one. If it were me, I'd probably want to see the crowd reaction firsthand.
