Pretty much nailed it. There are times when yes the white/black flash is totally acceptable, but really sparingly. It also helps if you add sum glow and blur. At least that's how I do itmirkosp wrote:My opinion on flashes in general (no matter the colour) is that, while there are places to use them, it's probably also true that it would be possible to do something better to sync in those places than flashing a colour. Of course, in a few places a flash might be just the best choice, but that is quite rare...SQ wrote:@Prodigi
Is your opinion that they are always wrong no matter what, or that they are done wrong so often you don't want white flashes to be suggested to people who will also probably only use them wrong? And why white flashes but not black?
I'm not Prodigi, but I would believe that his motive is along these lines, and I feel like backing his suggestion up anyway.
I'd also say to suggest not to randomly abuse masks or lip syncs. If not used fittingly, they just kill the video.
If you're using white flashes more than twice within a 10 second period you're doing it wrong. Once again that's just my opinion. There are exceptions to the rule, but in general...
And in regards to the black/white difference. I find black to be far less "omg my eyes have been raped". Hence why quite a few of my earlier videos did have some black flash/beats.
