The SPJA also took the opportunity to raise AX's ticket prices in wake of E3's cancellation.

Integrity, this convention has.
The funny thing is AX is going to be canceled regardless once events with 500+ people are banned by law, hope they have a fun time refunding all that money lmao
A lot can happen in three and a half months

As much as I dislike defending AX for anything, kireblue is right. It’s just bad timing. Still, who’s gonna pay 70 bucks to stand in line for 7 hours.
me i paid alot for mine last year and was well worth it to see my AMV make the biggest stage EVER! And to get 4th in the world was well worth the cost of the badge and everything else!
So... uh.... who wants to tell them?
AX is the AMV oscars? :uhoh:

Tell what BasharOfTheAges?
AX's contest had about half the amount of entries last year but even before that, it was not the biggest "in the world". Not to downplay your placement, because 4th out of the 145 entries is still very impressive and you should, of course, be proud, but in terms of size, there are comparable contests at many conventions. Editors send to what's local to them or to cons that have a history of putting on a quality show for the audience. Unfortunately, AX has not been treating its AMV dept well and many editors chose not to reward the con with entries last year and sent to other conventions instead, which contributed to the AX contest entries being low. It's also why they're apparently still struggling to find AMV staff.

In other words your superfluous hype is over a con that treats their volunteers like they're disposable and care more about numbers than they do the quality of the con experience.

Disappointing because it wasn't like that 10 years ago.

Are we going to bash AX in every thread now? No one has to let anything go but do we have to keep airing this in public?

This is a thread about AX with no official AX volunteer to answer questions. Sorry if our opinions (formed by direct experience) about the con leave a bad taste in your mouth. After what they did to the loyal and successful AMV team of 6 7 years AX doesn't deserve for editors to remain quiet or nice about it. They have no respect for AMVs, their editors OR coordinators.

Yeah like I said no worries if you have good reason to be upset. It doesn’t leave a bad taste in my mouth lol and I don’t like what AX did either, but it would just be preferable to foster positivity where possible considering there’s already a long thread on the topic that was very well viewed. It would just be nice, but again, I understand the feelings. I just hope there’s a better way to affect change than this for everyone involved. Much love from me!

They're the only ones treating and making AMV's a big deal at that con, which I hope they continue with that for many more years to come.
