My dad watched the Jupiter Jazz episodes of Cowboy bebop, off all the ones he had to watch he had to watch 2 of the weirdest.

Neon Genesis Evangelion(not exactly a first choice to show them, but I would like them to see it, because it's such a great series.)

Megami Kohousei
Cowboy Bebop
BGC2040
ect...

My Parents watched like.. half of the X movie with me... before they both fell asleep, I had never seen it, so Kamui's nekkid mom didn't really matter.

I have to agree with Knocking on Heaven's door because if you like a
good action movie you have to like it. Since my dad is a Matrix fanboy I've wanted to show him Ghost in the Shell, but the first five minutes are kinda like sensory overload with the full frontal nudity + hardcore graphic violence. The new GITS show would probably be safe tho. Another would be The Animatrix, because it's so mainstream oriented. Start with Detective Story or Kid's Story and then move on to Program, Beyond, or World Record. Save the Second Renaissance until last. I would disagree about FLCL tho. I think it would be a great starter because its so madcap. I mean if you don't die laughing from the first episode you have serious problems. For what I'd show my friends, CB would be first, then probly Hellsing, GITS, and maybe the X movie.

for my friends I'll stick to stuff that they might like. but with living on a ship for a few months out of the year. I Usally say Screw it and play what I want to watch and if they don't like it fine. I'll live but I know that I hooked a few non-animer's into it by this method. or that they just some thing to watch same thing at sea i guess.

I showed my step mom Death & Rebirth cuz it was all I had laying around at the time, I don't think she'll be watching any more anime now.
