Swords are meant to be fast and deadly. If someone wants to overpower their enemy with raw strength(like an oaf) then hammers and maces would be more of their thing.Propyro wrote:that looks like something that would be vaugly useful ... but heavy ... i can't remember what those swords ace aclled though, but there are real swords like that. Axes are something of a mix being both fast and heavy on a relatively small surface.
The Rapier is the fastest, hence best, thrusting sword and is also edged for some slashing.
The fastest/best slashing sword is obviously the Katana.
Overall, I would say the katana is the best. Most sword techniques require slashing and although you can't do a "wrap" with a one-edged sword, the ability to slice through significant amounts of non-metal armour as well as flesh and bone is quite useful. Think of it this way: in the middle ages in Europe your shield would be mostly wood so that when your opponent strikes their sword gets stuck. The Katana would cleave right through the shield and the arm carrying it.
Then lick their Blood off your blade and drink it from their corpse
MmmmmmmMmmmmmm Gooood!
