I understand why purists would say stay with the sub, but sometimes the dub can make you more able to pay attention to the action and facial expressions, versus reading everything.

As for my favorite dubs, I'd have to agree with:

Trigun
Fullmetal Alchemist
Samurai Champloo
Cowboy Bebop
Spirited Away
Wolf's Rain
InuYasha

I agree whole-heartedly. However, W i l l o w is entitled to make opinions too, and most of them were fairly well placed. I wish Cowboy Bebop and Hellsing were on there, but if YOU want it so badly, make your own topic with YOUR favorite 21 anime, ok?
Everyone deserves a second chance...

concerning most of the recommendations for hellsing as dubs: I do not agree with them.

the characters have ALL an unnatural voice that doesn't suit them in the english language: the embodyment of this is alexander, the agent of the vatican.

moreover, all the background voices are VERY poor, such as zombies growling or the decent swirl of wind. therefore, I enjoy the japanese voice MUCH more.

Jannis Nätke alias -Good for Nothing-

P.S.: but the german dub is even worse when it comes to the voices :P

I think the only English dub I've liked more than Japanese is Princess Mononoke. I mean, Gillian Anderson is so hot!
Well anyway that is a really good dub. I thought the wolf in Japanese just sounds weird. There are very probably others out there but I typically only watch subs because I like Japanese and I don't much enjoy most English VA's

I think dubs really lose something that you'd never notice unless you watched the Japanese version a lot of the time though. Like, with Ghost in the Shell, for one thing they edited out some jokes in the movie, and in SAC, I think the Major's voice in English is just not powerful enough. In Japanese, she always sounds like she knows exactly what's going on because she's a total badass, but I don't get that impression from her English VA.
