As judge for Anime North for the past 7 years, I've seen some pretty bad ones by people who honestly put a lot of effort into their work. They get an A for effort. However, there are some that "don't quite get the concept" of how to make an AMV.

Last year, someone entered a Beyblade video in the Novice category. It comprised of the Beyblade full length english opening song with the Japanese opening and ending video credits of the first three seasons spliced end-to-end-to-end (with subtitles of the original japanese lyrics embedded in the footage). I sincerely believe it was made by a 9-year-old based on watching what my own children think is cool. If it was, my hat is off to them for figuring out how to make an AMV. If it was someone twice that age, then it definitely ranks as the worst AMV I have ever seen. (Apologies to anyone if this is you, but it's the truth.)

i hate how u guys categorize things as bad just because they have been done before. i'v seen tons of of dbz/lp amvs (or of the like) but if it's till a good amv i like. it only gets REALLY bad when they use all the same footage. and even then it can be ok. guess i'm not picky :p

Years before the org, I found three AMVs on someone's page. I guess they didn't have a capture card, since all three videos just used Sailor Moon stock footage I presume they downloaded from the web. (attacks and transformations) Blech.

Be nice to it :p (sorry about the double post and if this is off topic, i'll shut up now >_<) but worst vid goes to the first amv i ever made, Sublime- Wrong way to Love hina (it's about shinobu) ...maybe i should post that vid for fun sometime

Worst amv, truth is I haven't posted it yet. I did really work hard on it. I made it for a WTF contest, it was the only one that didn't get much applause. When it ended I think everone was wondering "wtf was that?". I used a very wierd and little known cgi anime to the song White Rabbit by Jefferson Airplane. Maybe I'll post it here anyway.
