The issue with Quad-SLI (and even plain SLI) is that to get the best performance, you need to have the game optimized for it. Crossfire is more flexible from a game compatibility standpoint. Oh, and that's the other thing: multi-GPUs do NOTHING for non-game appications (except 3D modeling/animation rendering, IF the applications support it).
And with the iminent release of Core 2 Duo (Conroe) some games that were CPU bound, may not be anymore...
