Re: AMV Salad 4: TV Dinner (Premiere at OTAKON!)
already sent the thing in a short time ago. I did miss the credit thing on that clip so my bad on that part. It costs money to send another Priority package out and I was certain this was what everyone wanted for the final version. Either way, I'll have these things corrected before the annual convention "tour" begins.
I lost the sound sources and can't seem to locate the exact ones I used. I seriously thought you were having issues with which sound was being used for the test pattern thing so I tried to find something close to what I had before. I wasn't ignoring anyone or whatever. I just thought the sound I came up with was good enough. If it's some other issue, I'm not clear on what it is. Honestly, I think people will be laughing too much to register the repetition as they'll miss at least half the transitions.
Anyway, I'll see what I can do about sending a replacement tomorrow. Forgive my tone. I'm hot, exhausted, and this process has become a bit annoying at this time. I guess the screaming isn't quite over... *head-desk*

Every time I click this link, the download refuses to start. Am I the only one having this problem? But anyway, I doubt that this version is drastically different than the previous one, so its ok. I can wait till Otakon to see the absolute final version.Deuce Loosely wrote:Another 400+mb mp4:

I can't make it to the one on Thursday, but I'll be at the one on Saturday. And in terms of meeting up on Friday, I guess that everyone could just come to the AMV Salad premiere about 30 minutes early. This would give us time for a short chat and the opportunity to find seats together.Angelyco wrote:There are already 2 dinners being planned for Otakon for the Org, not sure if you just want to piggyback on one of those: http://www.animemusicvideos.org/forum/v ... 8&t=100431

Re: AMV Salad 4: TV Dinner (Premiere at OTAKON!)
I know you're hot and groggy, and I'm sorry you feel that way, but I believe the reason organizing this is so difficult for you is because you don't seem to use notes to jot down lists of changes as we post them so that you have an organized set of goals. I specifically warned you after AMVS3 to do something like that so it would make things easier for you. Organizing things like this is not about editing and clips alone, it's about actual communication and coordination. I have had to act as a lead animator for a game company, I understand very much what you run into.Deuce Loosely wrote:already sent the thing in a short time ago. You changed something without consulting with us, and I'm just confused how you thought you could change a key thing like the test pattern noise to something none of us had heard and assume it was what we agreed to? If I did that as an animator, I would have screwed up the entire art direction of the videogame I worked on. Yes, the audience will be laughing, but not as hard as they would with a stronger, intentional test pattern noise. The sound the test patterns use is literally part of the joke. They aren't separate. The sound that is used is KEY to how the joke lands. Last year you saw how we were asking for more test patterns, and I'm sure you saw how it actually made the clips funnier. It really does.
I mentioned half a dozen times that we should just stick with the original sound and gave many reasons why I felt it would be beneficial. If audio sources are the issue, that's when you tell us and we help you, that's what we're here for. It's nothing for me to extract the AMV Hell 3.14 or AMVS3 sound effect into a wav in soundforge and post it to rapidshare for you. This is what I meant when I warned you last year about being sure to communicate with us, because by discussing it with us, it would make everything easier for you and less time consuming.
I don't know how to really explain it, but when the sound changes in the cut to the test pattern, it changes the timing of the joke as well. The original AMV Hell 3.14 test pattern noise has a percussive beat, like music, and like any song, you have to time the beats correctly. I designed my clips specifically for that beat. We are editing our clips literally using the test pattern to 'complete the beat' in our clip, and I'm saying that is the case for non-musical ones too. Comedic timing is like music. Your original AMV Hell 3.14 test pattern noise worked so well, and it just baffles me that you felt that that of all things needed to be changed.
Seriously, if you're worried about priority mail costs, then just tell me the amount and I'll reimburse you at Otakon, no problem. I don't even mind. I thought it was an FTP server you upload to. And also, why can't we just drop off the DVD at the desk on Friday and tell them 'this one has minor edits, nothing in the content has been changed, please use this,' it's not like that'll be difficult for them.
My focus is and always has been to make sure the project is as strong as I know it can be. I mean, I'd like to think I've proven the last couple years that my comedic timing is trustworthy, so I'm not really just saying the stuff I say without purpose. If one of our clips gets stronger, all of ours get stronger.
So please, post here what problems you have, apprehensions, whatever, just let us know and we'll work it out before you send off another version.

Re: AMV Salad 4: TV Dinner (Premiere at OTAKON!)
First, I can't just hand them over anything upon arrival to Otakon as they will have already planned and placed everything they're going to show. They don't run a series of DVDs but edit together what they have for each night into a continuous reel.
Like I said, I'll send a new version tomorrow. I'm gonna have to load up AMVS 1 (or was AMVS3 better?) and extract the test pattern from there and replace every instance of what is on AMVS4 now. I wish Vegas had a "find / replace" function. I'll also fix the credits.
Anyone else have anything?..speak up now.

Oh, yes, you mentioned that last year I think. Surprises me that they don't use an FTP server or something then since they're editing it together anyway. Oh well.Deuce Loosely wrote:First, I can't just hand them over anything upon arrival to Otakon as they will have already planned and placed everything they're going to show. If it helps, here's the test pattern audio in wav form from both AMVS3 and AMV Hell 3.14. I suggest the 'reel' one as I call it, the one from the AMV Hell 3.14, but either one of those will work. If you listen and find that the AMVS3 'static' one fits more clips better than the reel one, go for it, they're both good ones. I gave you the longer and shorter 'static' versions I heard in there if you feel you want to use the longer one for a certain clip, but the shorter one seemed to work for most cases.
Also, I'm not sure if vegas works this way, but I believe you can change a footage or audio source. If you replace the source footage of whatever sound you are using it should replace every instance in the actual editing tracks as well, I know adobe does that at least. All I can say with that is if that works, make sure to double check each test pattern quickly to make sure it hasn't shifted the audio or something.
And a final reminder, the creator of the "Number Two" clip is "Captpan6". I just went through all the credits, the only thing I noticed is that it says "Opening Song: Richard Strauss: "Also Spragh Zarathustra" and I don't remember hearing that anywhere. Either way, that's the only inconsistency left that I was able to notice.
Thanks a lot Deuce, I'm sorry I missed it before. And if it really is that expensive to send the packages, I'll pay for your dinner Thursday night or something ^^

*sigh*
Okay...test pattern noise reset to "dialing" and Captpan6 is now in the credits.
I'm rendering the new mpeg2 and burning the new Data DVD.
The shipping isn't that big of a deal. Maybe a beer on Thursday night of 'kon?
I can't believe it's 30 days away...

I'll be at the con. Dunno if I can swing Thursday though. I'm kinda the Keymaster since the room is in my name. Plus Thursday night is kind of my socializing with my friends night, since a lot of my hotel room mates I only get to see at Otakon anymore. (It's kind of tradition to all go out together on Thursday night since it's the only time nobody is busy doing con stuff).

Re: AMV Salad 4: TV Dinner (Premiere at OTAKON!)
You could bring them with you to whatever the dinner ends up being, that's kind of my plan with my buddies. I have the same thing, I get to see a friend from back east only at Otakon, even if we chat nearly daily, so I understand most definitely. I want to see if I can swing Saturdaydinner as well, but all the best stuff is in the evening on Saturday really. I'll just find out when both/all of the dinners are and figure out whether Friday or Saturday are possibilities based on the con schedule. Either way, I think those of us who worked on AMVS4 should at least sit together during its premiere if we can swing that. Not sure how to coordinate that though ^^
And beer it is, Deuce.

Depending on the schedule, if we have enough time beforehand, I could do that.kireblue wrote:Yes? No?
