How sophisticated....

Uhh anyway, Ritsuko is FAR to crazy for me to take things she just randomly says out of the blue seriously (FYI: Everything she says is random and out of the blue, regardless of relevence to context) Okay so I guess everying she says is not out of the blue... but to the extent of my reasoning, I find absolutely positively no use for a sack of flesh and organs and such to be put into a plug. It's not like they can put a soul into the body, and it's not like the presenceless body can emulate anything of importance. Nothing that Ritsuko could say would convince me, short of "When we want to use a "dummy plug" we take one of these soulless Rei bodies out of the tank, flop it into a plug, and it pilots the Evangelion for us!"

...You know...it's obvious why all the pilots are fourteen...because that's the target audience for the show, and the makers wanted the audience to relate with the characters!

Just kidding, just kidding...

When the Evangelion movie came out (I don't know if it was D&R, EoE, or one of the multiple re-releases) a 'Red Cross Book' was given away for free in the movie theater. It was an encyclopedia of sorts that classified everything and everyone in Evangelion. I know that most of the things said about Hideaki Anno are speculation, but I DO know that he DID said this:
Anno wrote:There will never be an 'Evangelion Bible' released that contains all the answers.
There was a RahXephon Bible released that had all the answers to RahXephon, so I know what he's talking about. The Red Cross Book wasn't a Bible that explained everything, but it listed and described everything.

The information from the Red Cross Book is on the EoE DVD (Or, is it the D&R DVD? Sorry, forgot...). I looked at it a while ago, and it said something like this about the Room of Gauf:
EoE DVD wrote:The Room of Gauf had a certain number of souls in it, and at one point, it ran empty of souls. Every time someone gets a soul, a bird sings. When Fuyutsuki and Yui are talking beneath the tree, at one point, the birds stop singing, and never sing again. This is when the Room of Gauf ran out of souls.
I watched that scene again; they were right! At one point, the birds eerily shut up. It spooked the heck out of me.

...So, the 'Reiquarim' wasn't the REAL Room of Gauf, but was only nicknamed it. Just like 'Heaven's Door' under NERV wasn't really the door to heaven, but the big door leading to Lilith.

And, yeah, before I say another word, I wanna let you know that I acknowledge that I COULD be ENTIRELY wrong, since it's been a long time since I saw the movies and whatnot. If someone wants, I can look at translations of the Red Cross Book on the web and look at the EoE DVD's stuff again. Also, there were interviews with Anno and Eva's other creators in the Eva mangas, which I have; if someone wants, I can see what about them is fact and what is fiction, and see if they say stuff that will be pivotal to this discussion. Why haven't I already done these things? IMMA LAZY ASS!

One of these days…I am going to fly to Japan, find Anno, hold him at gunpoint, and make him explain everything to me.

Good ole' Anno... but uhh did he ever actually say "There will be an Evangelion Bible that will have all the answers" and if he did, was it a wry joke? I can't imagine that ever even being suggested.

As for the Red Cross Booklet, I've never actually read through the whole thing, but I've never seen it as an answer book as much as a theatrical trailor. It explains a lot of key points and ideas for people who haven't seen the series and for the things that people likely missed even having seen the series. That's how I've always seen it, anyway.

As for the passage about the room of Gauf... that's interesting. But I still can't find any meaning in it.

Maybe you misread my first post? =( I said that Anno said,
Anno wrote:There will never be an 'Evangelion Bible' released that contains all the answers.
He said this in an interview that was printed in the Evangelion mangas. It was either number one or two. I think number two had interviews with Yoshiyuki Sadamoto.

I also tried to make it clear that when I spoke of the Red Cross Book, I did not mean to make it seem as if it were an answer book; I guess I failed at that, too. Also, I should have made it clear that I knew it was a booklet and not an encyclopidia-sized thing.

I'm terribly sad that my information on the Room of Gauf didn't make any difference. I really thought it would.

I'm beginning to think that there are NO answers to questions like
Spoilers wrote:Whose soul is in Eva Unit-00, Who shot Kaji, and What are Gendo's tue Machinations. 00 just moves, Kaji just got shot, and Gendo's just doing things, all without a reasonable explanation.
I guess I formed this idea when I took a step back and realized that, if none of this was ever explained, maybe there ARE no explanations. I took yet another step back and realized that this is an anime, not real, so, unlike real life, it doesn't NEED to be realistic or have reasons for anything, as long as the audiance is already entertained.

(...I do agree, however, that speculation is one of the most enjoyable activities on the planet...)

As interesting as this topic is and as much as I want to comment on it, probably nothing I could say would matter, as my previous posts have shown, so I don't think I'll comment on it anymore.

Sayonara, and have fun!

P.S. - In case you don't know,

Woah, sorry about misreading the qoute. Haha silly Anno... I mean, silly me...

Don't be distraught about the Gauf passage, it could definetly still make a difference, just I can't think of anything right now. I need to rewatch the whole series again and then I can start coming to conclusions about stuff. I'm sure the thing with the birds is tremendously important, in some way or another. I'll have to remember that.

As for there being no answers.... answers are in the eye of the beholder. With something like Evangelion, what is or isn't a true answer is as impossible to prove as whether we as humans exist or not. To me, whatever I decide upon as the correct answer is an answer, so I say there are answers! :D :)
