Also, for you netflix people... Downloading DVD rips vs. renting DVDs to rip them... If the trend becomes as such, would that mean anime would just stop being sold if people decided:
Hey, it's cheaper to rent, and then steal off the rental footage!!
That'd suck for me cause I like owning my footage and watching it, not having to return it, and it's just better for me...
Owning a DVD to rip, the money goes 'hopefully' more directly to the creators vs. renting since technically, you're giving a gigantically smaller [??] amount to the people who made them... [don't give me the accounting #'s behind company overhead or what not... ultimately, people who rent give less than people who buy]
Moral high ground? I say so... I give the makers what their worth, not fractions of what they're worth... And also, how much is anime worth to you anyway? Steal it for free? [I'll admit, I get digisubs too, but at worst, unreleased licensed, and if I like it, I delete said backups and buy the DVDs]
What am I trying to say? Netflix to me is like paying for something you could have dl'ed for free months ago and then bought it when it finally comes out...
That and well, boxed sets are killer deals some of which become like $2 per volume in some older instances... [I'm an impatient mofo who likes my anime up front and my job pays well so I think I can manage $20-$60/month on releases and even then they don't always come out by the month]
