Nobody will complain if they don't know.godix wrote:Well, as mentioned earlier, you could take clips from here although if you're blatent about it people will probably complain.

You can't stop them, and you won't even know about it unless you processed the footage in such a way that it's significantly different from everyone else's. It doesn't matter what you do or don't allow people to do if you can't even tell when they're doing something you haven't let them do.Minion wrote:to me, it's not just about using my cuts, transitions, effects.
why should i let someone use the footage that i took the time to prepare?
It sucks that some video-makers are so braindead and/or lazy that they can't even download whole episodes by themselves, but what are you going to do about it?

You're not letting them, you might not even know they're doing it. It's theft, ripping off your work without you being able to do a single thing about it. Unless your vid is really unique and effect heavy there's a good chance that people who choose to steal clips from your amv's will get away with it.Minion wrote:to me, it's not just about using my cuts, transitions, effects.Scintilla wrote:So, basically, no one will come after you for using their AMVs as long as you make it impossible to tell that you used their AMVs. ... Oddly, I think I actually agree with that position.

Probably not very high. I'm under the impression that the people who are with it enough to make videos that become very popular are also people who are with it enough not to use other AMVs for footage.jhning wrote:umm.. the question is: what are the chances that anyone happens to see both the original and the stolen video?
It has happened numerous times in the past, though. I'm reminded of one video that stole wholesale from "It's Tricky to Make a Music Video", but I can't remember anything about it.
