Okay, ethical dilemma:

My rules say Rose Studios is doing the judging, but now my brother and sister want to make a few videos for the contest, which in my book means they shouldn't be judges (which they don't seem too upset about).

But the fact that they're my brother and sister might concern people, like, "Hey! That's not fair! (S)he only won because they're related!"

But honestly, if one of their videos is better, they should win (No, Dezbo, you're safe. I'm not gonna overrule the Snow White round

)

What are youse guys opinions? Should I allow them to enter and have them forefit their rights to judging? Or not allow them to enter and remain as judges? (But remember, I have the final say on this, I just want the public consensus before I make a move to edit my rules).

I'd say to let them enter; but then get, what is it, two other people who won't be activly participating in the contest to judge in their place. That way, there will be no bias when the entries are judged. Simple, solution, really.

Yeah, that sounds good. I had the thought of having my parents do judging to even out the spectrum. Blue and I are the anime half, and they'll be the Disney half. That way I can see if how well the video looks if someone even remotely aware of anime can understand what's going on. How that sound? Good, yes?

This will probably, as it has already, cause me to be late in announcing winners and handing out prizes and opinions. I know Dezbo hasn't received her opinion yet and she's been very good about waiting.

Ok people, 'nother moral dilemma. Does anybody think my rules are too strict? I think maybe I over-analyzed the details of this contest to the point where it wouldn't be fun for anybody.

Is there anything anyone wants me to be more lenient on? I'll listen to your opinions and make a sound decision.

I don't see them as being too strict, it's just there isn't really enough time between rounds for some of the movies. It's hard to pick sound sources for things like sword in the stone and a few others unless you have the DVD/video.

I think some people are picking the one/ones they would rather make a quality video of instead of just putting in something random every week.

Just a thought.

I agree with Dezebo. The only movies I would be doing anything with would be "The Lion King" and "Mulan." Personaly, I do not remember any songs from Dumbo, Bambi, Alice in Wonderland, Sleeping Beauty, 101 Dalmations, The Sword in the Stone (Never saw it to begin with), The Aristocats, The Hutchback of Notre Dame, Hercules, The Emperor's New Groove, and Lilo and Stitch. Therein lies the major flaw with the contest. I think it would have worked better as a simple MEP where you had people sign up for the movies they wanted to do rather then wait months and have the project die because no one could make anything for Dumbo or Bambi.

And one little mess up with the rules (now that I actually read through that whole encyclopedia) you cannot create movies in NTSC. NTSC is a Television standard for refreshing the image on a television screen. Much like PAL in Europe. I would change that to say use something like XVid to make an .avi or WMM to make a WMV. If you want to be REALLY fancy, suggest h.264 for MP4s. I don't see this as something BIG, but noobs may get scared and flee from this project and bombard us with "How do I export NTSC." Then I would have to hurt you severly.

Whoa!

I'm not used to people replying to me in paragraphs. That's usually what I write. Anywho, I shalt proveth thee wrong! ^.^ Dumbo: "Look out for Mr. Stork," "Casey Jr." "Baby Mine," "Pink Elephants on Parade," and finally "When I See an Elephant Fly." I won't go on, but there are songs in these movies. And if people can't think of any, they can easily look on the internet to find out what movie has what songs. So, no, that is not the major flaw. In my opinion the major flaw is probably the length of the rules which is why I asked, "Are they too strict?" People have short attention spans...what was I talking about?
XD Seriously, the deal about the NTSC, that's one of the little things that I over-analyzed and thought it necessary to stick in at the time, but in retrospect just seems like too much.

To Dezbo21, a week's time with no school is plenty of time! ^.^ But seeing as most people have school and jobs to go to, that's probably not enough time at all. But waiting 2 weeks at a time would mean the contest would last for a whole YEAR!

Ay caramba! And besides, people who are doing later movies have plenty of time to make videos. Unfortunately people who chose earlier movies may not have felt they had enough time and therefore chose a later movie. I expected to get very few entries on the first 4 weeks, but by Week 5, people will have had the a month's time to have worked on their video. That's enough time, no?

Thanks for your input. Anybody else have any suggestions? I'll keep updating the rules as I get more.
