That situation's kind of Out There, isn't it?

It's worse when you should actually know what the lyrics mean.

I'd link the video I'm referencing but it's on the shack, long story short somebody did Cascada's Everytime we Touch to DBZ.

Title of the video "Everytime you touch Goku"

Admit it, you read that title and laughed your ass off, I know I did.

I say we start an amv theory sub forum.
We can be a bunch of little philosophers joining theory parties and having a good time.

AMVs fail when people stop being auteurs.

P.S. "Story Snobs" I approve.
The best effects are the ones you don't notice.

heh i agree

Julian, why does every little edited creation have to be some kind of deeper meaning?

I think that the originality, creativity and all that bullshit is a beautiful thing, and you're right it is hard. But this is simply a hobby, and you have to see that not everyone goes for the same thing when creating something. Some people like to play around with programs and create something that they enjoy, and some people like to create a deeper meaning to their edits.

I think you're looking way too much into something as simple as placing some japanese cartoons with music.

The sheer fact that you posted this rant tells me that you care way too much, and give most people way too credit.

You are right however, that anime sucks. I personally have fallen out of the scene very heavily, and definently have not had any reason to be lured back. Shit like lucky star and all the shallow, repetitive crap that comes out gives me no hope.

--

japanese culture is fucking backwards, you're right. However in the same idea, MADs may be stupid to you, but to me i just dont give a shit. Ok, i watch a MAD, it looks pretty, im entertained for like 2 minutes and then its over....

if i dont like it, then i delete it, simple as that

There is no reason to look deeply into these trivial creations that people do in their spare time. You won't find the answers you're looking for and the more your brood over it the more it will make you frustrated.

I agree with you on a certain level about the state of anime and probably AMVs for that matter. Sometimes, though, you have to just dump the core of your mind and just enjoy something for what it is. Ya know, not look into it so deeply. Take something like BoBoBo for instance. The first time I saw it, I wondered what the hell this crap was. Then, I turned off my brain and just watched and a strange thing happened. I started to enjoy it. Things don't always need to be relevant to your life and your way of thinking. Sometimes you have to step beyond that and try and see things from another point of view.
