Technically Canada is was British,we're still used to be part of the British Empire and it was the British Army and Canadian Militia (both fighting for Canada) that captured and burned the lighthouse Whitehouse. Silly Americans think they won the war... ahem no they didn't, nobody won.

American Goal for war of 1812 was to conquer Canada to stop British impressment of sailors, stop British restrictions on US trade, and to stop Britain from arming Native Americans, that failed on all but one of the goals.
Canadian Goal = defence of Canada, that worked out. To do whatever their british overlords told them to do

Canada Britain didn't gain anything so we they admit to not winning, although to them the war was a minor side quest to the Napoleonic Wars so they didn't really care. The Americans gained nothing, they simply broke British support of Indians in territories the US was expanding into but failed in their other goals., they simply got back the land that WE took from them AFTER the war started. Both sides returned land they had conquered during the war.

Neither side got anything,the war was a waste of time. People died for no reason (much like most wars). The Americans were the bad guys this time.Both sides had rather deplorable motives.

The war was foguht on North America by the Canadian Militia with soldiers sent from Great Britain, it was still technically the Canadian Military. although the Canadian Militia fought invasions of Canada they had little role in other theaters of the war

Put simply,we the British burned the White House.

And no, not half french, only 23%.

And to explain what i said. The British... probably don't care. The Canadians claims that nobody won and that we burned the White House (In light of current information, this may or may not be false, I am not inclined to take either side (any longer)). The Americans say it was the British that burned it and most of the time they claim that they won it. And The Canadians were trying to defend Canada, it wasn't about doing what the British overlords said (and yes they were probably "bossy"). If let's say Russia were to suddenly invade America and let's say that America was still a British colony (No meaning behind this, purely hypothetical). Would America defend because Britain said so? Or would they defend because their homes are being attacked?

If I thought he could hold his own in a debate or actually bring anything to it other than pure stupidity I actually would. But he can't, so I didn't.

On topic: Anime did bring an interest towards Japan when I was younger, but to be honest I'm not such a big fan. Interesting culture and language, but I don't think I'd like to travel there, unless I win the lottery and decide I want some goodies I can't find on Ebay.
I'll live happy if I don't.
