AMV Fame, the musical. Act 1 Scene 1.

Enter noob from stage right, noob is carrying an armful of dvd's full of fansubs and downloaded mp3's. Noob trips in middle of stage, dropping the cd's everywhere. Cue rain sound effects.

Cue violins, as noob drops to knees and looks to the sky.

Noob: "WHY GOD, WHY"

Cue I TRIED SOO HAAAARRDDD AND GOT SOOO FAAAARRRR

Noob: "ONE DAY, I DUNNO WHY, IT DOESN'T EVEN MATTER HOW HARD I TRY" (while tapdancing)

(no seriously, do it cause you love it, not for fame...and if you like that kind of thing, lurk more/come to cons/stuff, get INVOLVED.)

I am shocked that not a single person in this thread has truthfully answered or attempted to help the OP.

I've been around AMVs a long time and am known as a straight shooter so I will not bullshit this man. The key to becoming famous as an AMV creator is to go to conventions and get crunk in the AMV room. It is not enough to just get crunk though. You must be a true AMV baller and know all the handsigns to flash. You also need to have the bling bling from the dealers room to floss.

To help set you on your way I am going to violate the secret society of cool AMV creators. Below you will find the official famous AMV creator chant. Get crunk and belt this out during an AMV competition at your local convention and you are sure to become famous.

I think cons and hanging out in the org chat is the way to go to be noticed. As far as being famous, you have to make a really great video or something so unique, people will remember it. I could be wrong though...

Networking ...

On the Org you need to hang with the right people ... (Kinda like High School)

At cons, being on or running panels ....

Making a good video will get you reconized by a few people ... and if they are popular, people might start to watch your videos ....

Overall though, "Fame" here is fleeting and meanless .... (though it can be fun)

Oh, and there is a difference between a popular video and a popular editor ... often people don't even know or care who made that Ass Rape video .... or that perverted panty video ....
