What is it with the hating on DBZ

i mean come on
Its really not that serious.....We have people on here arguing about a anime thats not that bad....Dbz wasn't the first anime i was introduced to but it was one of the coolest. It does have a good plot and the action is non-stop. But all anyone on here talks about is the series.....there's more to anime than the series. I am more of a movie fan myself, so i don't get in to series.....Another thing a lot of the anime people say is cool sucks.....i.e love hina, gundam.....But its all in a persons opinion. In fact if we all wanna keep it true, the first anime most of us was introduced to was voltron.....now lets get real. Also i'm pretty sure that there's some anime out there that the "hardcore" fans on here never even heard of. How many of you have heard of baoh, jojos, amon, bastard.....the ones you cant rent at blockbuster.

the DBZ plot does suck, it's a fact. It NEVER changes, it's always "some one really strong is here unimaginably strong, there's absolutley no way we're going to be able to get through this! we're doomed!" and then some how "look, we trained super hard, and there was a iracle, now we're 5 times stronger than the unimaginable, and we're going to effortlessly kick their ass!"
I mean I'm a DBZ fan, but the plot DOES suck. If you like DBZ, like it for the directing, and the action. The fights are good and fun to watch, the plot though, couln't blow more.

come on now
what anime isn't like that.....There is always some underated hero, who needs to beat some villian, and through some freak case of realization the hero always comes out on top.....i.e jojo's bizzare adventure

Read the manga, the plot is substantially better, and its fast paced. On top of that Toriyama wanted to end the plot after Freiza. But the Japanese fans demanded more, so he basically had to write as he went along, and you must admit, he did pull some pretty damn good thoughts and concepts out of his ass. I mean, considering the times, all of the aspects of the plot were far more original then you would think seeing it today. On top of that look at all the stereotypes of anime characters he created that are seen in so many animes today? The intergalactic badass, the quiet yet latently powerful one, or the innocent and goofy protagonist (believe it or not, I see a lot of Goku in characters like Vash the Stampede).Jace Tsunami wrote:the DBZ plot does suck, it's a fact. In closing, I just want to add something, people need to NOT focus so much on the dub when critiquing dbz. Let's face it, it is one of the absolute WORST peices of trash ever produced. They took the audio and basically ripped it to shreds. Sure there's lots of standing around and talking no matter which language you watch it in, but at least in the Japanese version the stuff that they say is entertaining.
No one take this post personally, its just in defense of dbz.
The best effects are the ones you don't notice.

The only thing I haf way like about the dubbed version of DBZ is some of their voice actors fit the roles quite well. The japanese version of DBZ does have better conversations but the voice actors were just terrible. I will atrribute most of it to the times but damn the rest of it just doesn't fit the character designs.

(since the 1st time i tried posting this message, a-m-v.org f-ed up, and the 2nd time i tried posting it(after i had to rewrite it) my computer f-ed up, this was suppose to be after the 2 guys finished talkin' about ultimate fighting and boxing and talkin' bout being jackass, nothing personal, i'm just saying that's what you were talking about)(anyways...)
Wow, you guys really got off topic there, but about dbz-fans again, i agree that dbz-cult-fans are the lowest of the low, MOST dbz fans aren't even at an age where they're suppose to be seeing this stuff. No Edited versions should ever be made of anything. If you don't like something about something, avoid that something until you're mature enough to handle it, or until your parents aren't looking. I strongly suggest that someone who is new to anime, DO NOT START WITH DBZ!! it's cool to watch sometimes, but don't make it your guide to the world of anime for christ's sake. What few realize is that the world of anime is as diverse of that of live-action. every genre of anime people bring up, has a live-action equivalent, and yes, dbz-cult-fans are a lot like creed-fans. From my experience, the worst dbz fans are the internet ones. I hate when you go into a room and all of a sudden all of the dbz-cult-fans in unison go
<DBZFANSasAwhole>DBZ ROKSZ!!
ANYONE THAT SAYS THAT GOKU CAN KICK ANYONE'S ASS SHOULD BE TAKEN OUT BACK AND HAVE THEIR SOUL REMOVED OUT OF THEIR ASS!!....sorry, but gohan is the best anyway(hahahahahaha)
So my point is that the fans, not the series, are the main problem. The series itself is not that bad. I myself like the series, not because of it's horrible story line, or it's crap-ass animation(which actually DOES get better as the story progresses). I like DBZ because it is so long. Which such a long span of episodes, the series gives its' characters an opportunity to experience tons of things in their life-time. BTW, i consider Dragonball to be the main ANIME, Dragonball is the 1st SERIES, DBZ is the 2nd SERIES, and DBGT is the 3rd SERIES. They are not all one and the same. Another thing that annoys me, and i know that some dbz-cult-fan will give his/her 2-cents about this issue, is that DBZ is NOT about goku. Dragonball was about goku, Dragonball was where they developed goku's character and personality, DBZ only emphasized it, he never grew(mentally) in DBZ or DBGT. Gohan is what DBZ is about. The DBZ series starts off with Gohan's birth and ends when he is in his adult years. Goku only changes physically (ie super saiyan) but gohan is the one who had to develop into his own character, along side with Vegeta. The biggest reason that i like dbz, is because it gives me a lot to work with as an amv creator. Sadly though, this is also one of the biggest draw-backs. At one point in my life, i owned enough DBZ-Linkin Park(usually the history of trunks) amvs to cover all the songs in the Hybrid Theory album, some songs i had several vids for. But if you have the patience, you can sift through all the crap made by amateurs that throw random clips together and do ene-meenie-minie-mo to pick what linkin park song they're gonna use, and find the good dbz-amv's that actually have a point to their existence.
For examples of such rarities, check out http://www.neogohan.net, or try a p2p network and search for vids from Supa Vegitto (one of the few SANE dbz fans)
I hope this didn't turn out to bash-dbz, i really think it's a series worth watching(ALL OF IT, NOT JUST THE CRAPPY FIRST EPISODES), given some tolerance, it can be a series that we can all enjoy. Afterall, who doesn't dream of being able to fly and using the energy you use in real-life as a weapon, making your own body into a weapon, it's science fiction.
I hope this made any sense, if not, eh..peace out
