Considering Lugosi's version was pretty bad as an adaptation... (as a standalone it works, but as a retelling of Stoker's text it truncates a LOT)...you'd prob. have better luck comparing it to Copolla's telling

As for me.... Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card. That would be fucking awesome. The book has all the proper elements for an anime, and the creators could go into every detail of the book with a big enough budget.

'Tis not fantasy or anything special, but I really enjoyed the book Flushed written by Carl Hiaaasen would make an interesting anime. And when I saw younger, I enjoyed reading a series about horses entitled Heartland. That would also make an enjoyable anime, in my opinion.

Main Entry: 1lust
1 obsolete a : PLEASURE, DELIGHT b : personal inclination : WISH
2 : usually intense or unbridled sexual desire : LASCIVIOUSNESS
3 a : an intense longing : CRAVING b : ENTHUSIASM, EAGERNESS

American Gods by Neil Gaiman.

I could actually see this happening.

1984 would be a good ass anime, if you ask me. The whole book is more of a mood piece, and good anime background and colors could capture that awesomely.

As for manga - Princess Ai. Fuck yeah. Get the right band to sing the songs, and how kick ass would be the concert scenes?

Hana-Kimi would be freakin adorable. Nakajo draws the cutest *SHOCK* expressions, and I'd love to see them animated.

Also...can I get a hell yeah for "MARS"? The sweetest love story. Tons of action. So sweet.

And for music - Silverchair's "Diorama" album. Daniel Johns wrote all the songs inspired by show tunes, so there's a dramatic feel to every song. Plus he sings about weird shit ("tuna in the brine"?) that could make for some interesting visuals.

The Halo books.

Friday Night Lights

Red Storm Rising

The Third World War

Although it's not quite applicable, Babylon 5 or Starfire (by David Weber) would kick ass as animes. Esp Starfire, which could beat Macross in missile swarms with just a few destroyers.

Im Westen Nichts Neues (now my own translation)

-> Nothing new in the west by Erich Maria Remarque

This is a book about a guy called Paul Bäumer who goes to World War I, together with his class. During the war more and more of his friends die. The whole book is very dark, there are sentences like:"We see humans live whose skulls are gone" or "A sergeant made it back here carrying his guts hanging out of his stomach."

WOuld be a nice anti-war anime.
