There should be room for what, like 30 videos in the contest? (120 minutes, approx. 4 min./video- though this may be a bit high). Which means some 1/6 of the entries will make it in. With that many entries and so few spots, there will definitely be more than a few very good videos that simply won't make the cut :-/

I count 25 of us that have posted about our entries. Going with the assumptions I made in the last tally and puttting TaranT's in standard (non-romance) drama and hackerzc's in comedy (to try and even things up a bit), we end up with the count:

Drama (non-Romance/Sentimental) - 5
Drama (Romance/Sentimental) - 5
Action - 3
Upbeat/Rhythm- 7
Comedy- 5

Assuming 175 total entries (probably the closest to an even multiple of 25- though 200 would be possible, I suppose), and assuming we're an accurate representation of the entries (which I'm sure we're not), that would mean there would be:

Drama (Non-Rom.) - 35 (20%)
Drama (Rom/Sent) - 35 (20%)
Action - 21 (12%)
Upbeat - 49 (28%)
Comedy- 35 (20%)

I don't personally think we're a very accurate cross-section, though... I would not be surprised if we have like half of all of the upbeat/rhythm entrants responding here, and there are a lot more drama videos entered into the contest. I would figure that the two drama categories combined would be over 50% of the entries, and that Upbeat was more on the order of 20%, possibly less.

Of course, we could just do away with all this prescreening stuff and just make the contest the entries from this thread... there's about the right number of videos. :D

I would have to agree with this man's highly intelligent suggestion :D

Wow though, just making the cut would be a big deal for me considering the # of entries...

/me cries about his mediocre entry :-P

I think I'm going to have to agree with Ashyukun's suggestion - it's the only way any of my videos would ever make the finals. Then again, who's to say they're deserving? Of course, those who haven't seen early versions of the video won't even know it's mine - thank goodness for regularly changing aliases.

It won't affect your numbers too much, but my entry should be in Comedy. (That Slide Show wisecrack referred to last year's entry. :P )

My first comedy vid...going up against Vlad and Tim..."No chance!" (Col. John Matrix, Commando).

That's why I'm here. If I can't at least make the cut for the contest with this years vid, then perhaps I should not be doing this anymore.

At least that's how I'm feeling at the moment. I change my mind a lot though.

It's about 7am now, so for anyone going to UMCP today, I'll see ya there.
Or maybe you won't. I try to kwwp a low profile around other creators. Especially when my vid is shown. That way it's harder for anyone to target and throw something at me :P
