Eh, I guess I'm a pessimist, then. ^_^;;Shun wrote:I would say less then half the people who dislike it actually have one of those reasons, most of the actual reasons have already been previously posting and i dont feal like typing it all up again.
I'd wager half the people who dislike this anime haven't watched enough to form their own opinions on the anime and are merely repeating things they've heard from others - and a fourth of the people (half of that half) hate it because of the young over eager fans shoving it in their faces and haven't watched enough to tell Yamcha from Yajirobi.

Hehe. I remember when I thought anime was cool looking but really wasn't into it. At that time, I really wanted to see DBZ (because Akira Toriyama did the character designs for the Awesome chrono trigger, and also the entire Dragon Quest Series), but had no idea it was on tv. I didnt actually ever see some of the show until about 7 months ago. Honestly, I don't see why it is such a popular show. Granted I tend to like more mature and thought provoking anime (I dont like kids anime). I think if I had seen it (in order) 6 years ago I probably would still be a huge fan to this day. Its my opinion that DBZ is made primarily for younger audiences (in japan), and I think a lot of anime fans only see these subsophmoric aspects and cringe (i.e. the cheesy never ending battles, the cheesy dialogue, the paper thin plotlines, the sloppy animation, the constant power-uping).DJ_Izumi wrote:I hope you die... or at least lose the ability to reproduce.
When you consider those factors from the perspective of a more seasoned anime fan, its easy to see why someone would say "I hope you die." However it is your opinion and that is fine. I mean hey, DJ_Izumi said he hated Ranma 1/2, (my favorite anime) and I had to defend that anime as well. There is no anime, no matter how great it is, that absolutely everyone likes, not even Inuyasha, which is close (see other thread).

About your post:
Dragonball Z has a great plot, and the their is no cheesy dialogue in the original version.. and i'm not even going to comment on the "kids show" crap..I believe everyone can enjoy Dragonball Z.. kids and ESPECIALLY adults. how isn't it mature? I don't agree with that at all.. Dragonball Z is a very intelligent show.. sure it's not Ghost In The Shell or Lain...but neither is Inuyasha or Ranma 1/2.. the characters all have strong backrounds, gain wisdom, learn to love, have families and strange relationships.. the plot all comes from the characters themselves, and that to me, is one strong storyline.
Oh, and because i've seen this said in some earlier posts..:
Where does "Sensless Violence" come from? Every fight in the show has a point, their isn't anything Sensless about it.. plus the dub sucks out all the drama from the battles.. if you want to see the true Dbz, get the japanese version.
I agree, their is no anime that absolutely everyone likes.. completely agree.. I just made this place to talk about Dragonball Z.. lol..
"Their are bigger better anime out there, Dragonball Z just opens up the door for other things... -_-" That might be true for some people, but dbz didn't introduce me to anime...
I've said some of this stuff before, lol! Sorry for the repeats.
and one more thing, why does EVERY anime have to be animated well and out of this world complicated to be good? A good enjoyable plot is fine with me.. Currently my favorite animes are Dragonball Z and Ranma 1/2..

I agree completely, and I take every word I said back about Gundam Wing. I haven't seen enough to judge.. forgive me! ^_^Arigatomyna wrote:Eh, I guess I'm a pessimist, then. ^_^;;Shun wrote:I would say less then half the people who dislike it actually have one of those reasons, most of the actual reasons have already been previously posting and i dont feal like typing it all up again.

Eh, but Gundam Wing is only 49 episodes altogether - if you've seen anywhere from 15-25 episodes then you've seen nearly half the anime - that should be enough to make a good guess about the anime as a whole. But DBZ (separate from DB and DBGT) is a lot more than 49 episodes - a person would have to watch a *lot* of it before they can say they've seen a good portion of it. To really decide if an anime is 'bad' I think you need to judge it as a whole - not make comments based on one arc or a few random episodes picked up off Toonami. That would be like taking 10 episodes from GW - not really a good way to judge the anime as a whole, or to make generalizations about it.SSJ_Mitsuka wrote:I agree completely, and I take every word I said back about Gundam Wing. Well, at one time I did watch Toonami for Dragonball Z.. but I couldn't take anymore after the Cell Saga ended.. so of course I would catch Gundam Wing alot.. I'm not sure how I feel about it, but at the moment the characters don't grab my attention.. That's all I can say I guess.
