Yeah but even Phade has to eat you know, so it can't be with the intent to make NO profit. If you're investing the majority of your life into something like this you need to have some means of supporting yourself. It would be more than foolish to not at least keep track of the hours you're clocking and to factor them at, at least minimum wage.Knowname wrote: To Whee_it's_meeee! that may be true, but keep in mind the org is a strictly a not for profit organization not some business trying to compete on a mountain.
Sorry child, but the entire world already did upgrade:Basically until the world truly upgrades to HD-capable and so on the baseline is simply not gonna move ever so incrementally just to conform to you. It won't even move for X.264...

Sites like YouTube and Neopets pretty much forced everyone into it...not that it takes ANY effort to upgrade/install Flash, pretty much a single click is all it takes. It's fully cross operating system compatible and will work in ALL major browsers. At this point, it's a better distribution format than even MPEG-1.
LOL, that's like trying to say that color TV is just a trend. Sorry, but Flash is very much here to stay and it is very much the future of web development. Before long nearly EVERYTHING will be built in Flash.Yes, this new trend
You're assuming that it would be done by some corporation. Let me give you a good example. You see this place:may 'out pace' a-m-v.org, but as a non-profit organization, I don't think we care. Use THEM by all means, but most likely, like most hype, they will soon crash like all the .com crap before them. Luckily a-m-v.org has avoided alot of the hype.

They used to control nearly the entire fan based RPG game making community...that was until the makers of RPG Maker (the primary program the community is based on) released a new version. The new version of the program, RPG Maker XP used new, larger sprites that were incompatible with older versions of the game. Now, the problem is, the folks over on Charas didn't bother to upgrade anything. Their sprite generator to this day (which has largely become a joke) still can only make character sprite sets for the OLD program and the ones it can make, well, they don't look very good. So then, along came lil 'ol me...and I took it, everything, their community is now directly under *MY* control. Why? Because I made this nifty lil thing:

And then I went and aligned myself with rival forums to Charas further pushing them into the realm of obsolete. I even went so far as to start shit with their regs, which further alienated them in the community when they went against me. At this point, they're a mostly dead construct and I now have complete control over the entire community as they are wholly dependant upon me for what I create for them.
Now the thing of it is...I'm not that unique...there are a LOT of people who do things like me...and it's only going to take ONE of them to create an alternative .org site with advanced, cutting edge features that the .org doesn't have and isn't capable of producing and, well, that'll be it for this place.
Keep thinking that, It'll make it that much funnier when someone comes along and takes over. ^_^Bottom line, MPEG is good enough o.0 (except in the case of MEPs... wich are the bane of our existence anyway...)
