Ishbalan wrote:In my eyes right now, AMV Salad is a continuation of the idea of AMV Hell that hopes to keep the concept alive. I know that AMV Salad can grow beyond this, and become something new and original - perhaps even better than AMV Hell, but this cannot happen until it rids itself of overused ideas.

On another note, as far as being a trailer goes, it was good.
It cannot stand alone as an AMV, though.
deuceloosely can correct me if I'm wrong, but AMV Salad was never intended to supercede AMV Hell, but to carry on its tradition. In fact, we wanted to keep the name AMV Hell, but weren't allowed.

And I don't think the trailer's supposed to stand alone as an AMV. It's an actual trailer to get people excited about the "Second Serving".

Thanks for the input!

That preview trailer was smart, funny, and crisply edited. The randomness of the salad imagery reminded me of bananas in Ouran Koukou Host Club. Super job, =DarKNesS=!
Yay, glad you liked it :D I really did work hard on that one... And it took me a lot of time to finish it too (...maybe a week...) Probably the longest time I spent on a 1:20 min of AMV... And really, I do enjoy making trailers MUCH more than making AMVs, the only thing I lack in, sometimes, is ideas ><

Indeed, "AMV Salad" isn't made to surpass "AMV Hell", but to follow its steps. Though we will try our best to keep it fresh and original. I'm sorry again if I didn't made the trailer very original for someone, but even though it may look like something Ishbalan showed there, it's basically two different things.

I really don't wanna argue on that and I do respect your opinion Ishbalan, it's just that I never saw something similar to my trailer (with anime content), that's why I decided to go with it in the first place.

No, I guess here Ishbalan was completely right, it probably can't shine as a regular AMV trailer alone, but does good advertisement for the "Salad". I do hope that other people will like it not only as "AMV Salad" trailer, but as a AMV itself, even though it may not be original enough for someone.

Wow, I have not been receiving my updates on this thread.....
Anyway, I like the trailer, it allows for enough mystery that the best clips aren't used up just in it and are around to surprise audiences with new productions.

What's the update with Katsucon? I've got the weekend off, but will be going to Atlantic City for part of it. I can however show up on one day if you have any need of it.

Also, due to recent events, would my Brokeback Mountain clip still be acceptable?

Just curious.

Hope my updates come now.

At least it isn't just me. I wonder if anyone has brought this up to the admins..?

11:59pm Saturday night, video 1 (the big room, according to staff :D). If you want to contribute anything to the panel part of the Salad, please do so.

Yeah...I'd think you'd want to see how people react to your work. ;)

Why not? By the time this is released, Ledger's dying will have long since been put on the shelf.

==========

I should know soon about what TekkoshoCon wants to do with the Salad.

Tonight, I work on two new clips

Video: various Roy Mustang stuff from FMA
Audio: Family Guy - Who Else But Quagmire?

Video: various instances of anime cats being naughty
Audio: Hello Kitty theme song (Japanese)

So...what about the rest of you?

I'm off tomorrow for another month, so I won't be doing anything for now... But I'll be back next Friday and I do have a few ideas in mind, so I might be submitting a clip or two :)

Clippy Things!

Post by RanMouri82 » Mon Feb 04, 2008 11:12 pm

Now that I've finally purchased a decent editing program that can save in MPEG-2, I'm ready to contribute! Two questions for deuceloosely:

1) Do you need me to make a new production tag?
2) Are we having any challenges this year, or just making random Hell-esque AMVs on our own?

Thanks lots!

That "Lovely Goth Loli Productions" tag from last time was yours, yes? If so, save your creative prowess for the clips. We really need some material to start flowing in soon. Anyway, the audience loves that production tag.

As far as the challenge aspect, I've been thinking about that. Perhaps after this weekend, I'll post something and see if anyone is interested (unless any of you others have any ideas, in which case you should PM me about it ;)).

We're less than five months until post-production and so far I think we MIGHT have three minutes of clips. I'm trying to shoot for a half-hour this time. Think you can muster the fortitude?

Er, unfortunately, that was not me. I just had a silent opening door with my username superimposed on it--and it was .wmv. ^^* But either way, I'll try making a clip or two first, if you'd like!

UPDATE:

I'm back from Katsucon and I have to say the Salad was very well-received by somewhere between 80-100 people; maybe more. I didn't count. :P

The best reactions came from the clips using Death Note, Eva, FMA ("Freddie Got Fingered," "Ed's Very Useful Scientific Facts"), ...Haruhi Suzimaiya, InuYasha / Witch Hunter Robin,...well, there were many highlights. I may have also attracted at least one new producer to the Second Serving.

Next stop for the Salad tour: TekkoshoCon VI
Date: April 11-13
Time slot and location: TBA

Way to go, kids! Keep those clips coming...
