Filling up empty space!

Post by Rini210 » Sat Jul 20, 2002 3:21 pm

Okay, when you have an AMV that has like.. 30 seconds of just melody or something like that (like in dance music) how do you really fill up that time? I can't think of any intros, I suck at them.. and most songs have intro's of just music. So.. yeah.. any ideas?

Most the time the best thing to do is to tell a story without words that fits as part of the song.

When that fails you just make it pretty enough to distract them until the bit they should pay attention to comes along :P

Use rapidly flashing colors to induce seizures. The unafflicted people will just think that the other people are starting to dance to the video. :D

Sorry, I couldn't resist. I apologize. Forgive me? :P

Things such as:

- Introducing the theme of the rest of your video.
- Integrating your credits into the music instead of over the silence beforehand (but if that's the entire 30 seconds you will be stoned to death).
- Treating it just like the rest of your video; if it's all keyed to the words, try to extrapolate (see point 1)

Or you could just cut part of it out. With caution.

Ooookay, those were obvious, but I'm new. It's a start. :P

Absolute destiny is right, just continue an inside story relating to the theme of your video. In my Lain video I used scenes of people frightened and dying because of Lain since the entire video is about fear and paranoia. Action videos often use a string of action oriented sequences whiel drama videos focus on emotional moments in a character or characters' life. It depends on what the theme of your video is and how you want to convey it.

Well, what I'm planning on doing for some of my videos is edit the songs down. AD did that for "Speed King"

Hmm.. thanks for all your help. I found a beginning, which really sucks, but it's better then what I originally had anyways.

I'm definately going to edit the song down. I am not going to do a 5 minute video because 1. I suck at making these and 2. it would bore you all to death

Okay, anyways, thank you again!
