  • Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
  • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
  • When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
  • Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

[AMV] Kill La Kill ~ Valkyrie

Post by Evidence44 » Fri Jul 18, 2014 11:57 pm

Hey everyone, since i'm new to this site let me introduce shortly if you will.

[life]I began to watch animes not that long ago like 4/5 years ago and back then i used to watch generic things like bleach or OP... I made an AMV in 2010 which was super bad but i liked it and the comments i had were positive. So here am i, currently studying in 3D (maybe i'll include some 3D in my montages when i'll get better), willing to enter in this world of AMV's makers, so after watching staight the 24 eps of Kill la Kill, i was like "give me 1 day and i get used to the software i'll use and make my AMV". So i kinda did it, i fint it "ok", but i'm not super satisfied with it.. Objectivly i'd say it's a 5/10. But i'd like to read people's opinions.[/life]

First of all, the music i chose has the potiential to let me create something which is slow/paced/flashback/background story at the beginning, resulting in a possibility to contrast & highlight the combat parts, i'd like to know if you have ideas that could have render that feeling better. I tried to show that Ryuko is a woman warrior, a valkyrie, she isn't afraid to fight. Also, this is my 2nd AMV ever done (my first try was 4 years ago).

I'm using Sony Vegas 13, but i have After Effects Pro CC & Adobe Premiere Pro CC ready to use aswell. I'm novice in those 3 softwares, which one, in your opinion, suits the most for making action AMV's and why ?

I'll wrote here the mistakes i'm aware of and crtitism that have been made already (it will help me to keep track of everything for my next tries of making a good AMV) :

- Bad camera shake at 00:16-20
- Moments when u see the anime character speaking without sound (= Either let him speak or do not show this sequence)
- Not enough story-telling even for someone who has already watched KLK.
- Sequences may be cut more to add some action ~Faster Pace

I spent a lot more time on this one for the editing. I think this one is far better than my Kill La Kill one which has just basic flash transitions. What do you think ?
Still using Sony Vegas 13.0. I think i should try masks for the next one, tho it may be difficult for my first try.
