New to Amv's
Hey guys so im pretty new to amv making and i was hoping for some tips. I use Sony Vegas Pro and action to record sections of a video. Ive had several experiences making game montages and making mmvs. If you have any tips it would be very much appreciated!

mmv as in manga? well the only difference between that and AMVs would be flow is harder to achieve since not everything is a still frame that depends on the motion you create, so you'll have to be careful with what 2 clips you put together. Focus on their colors / motion, scale of objects etc. Similar clips would achieve greater flow.
Good luck!
Good luck!

Tips? Be simple. A lot of people think that transitions and flashy effects are key to a good video, but in my opinion, it is definitely scene selection. In my current video I'm working on, I spent literally HOURS looking for certain scenes just for 2 seconds of clip. Scenes are key. Colors are key. Moving scenes work well and are much more dramatic than a static scene. I also recommend watching an anime first. You'll be able to remember scenes from what you watched and it will help greatly when choosing scenes. Another thing I learned over like... 3 years of editing is avoid flashing. I flashed SO MUCH. Like every transition was a flash. Don't do what I did. It looks like Sh**. Flash at climaxes of a verse or an emotional highpoint. Works very well there. Trying not to ramble here... If you're editing to more than one anime, try you're hardest that the animes you choose, that their styles are consistent. Because Obviously death note and Clannad probably won't translate well if you put a lucky star clip in between them. Hope this helped!

The best tip I can give anyone is to learn the technical stuff as early as you can, so you don't have to kill bad habits over and over again later on. I've only killed my really terrible technical habits very recently, and it's been annoying as shit to have to change the way I do everything in order to make things that look halfway decent. Read the AV Guide, go through the video help forums, snoop around Doom9 a bit and generally do what you have to to get acquainted with the technical basics. It might seem like a chore, but it will make a lot of things much easier and much less frustrating down the line.

Is this site noob-friendly or does it even try to be? Because every time I've ever dropped in there, pretty much always from a Google search, I feel like they're speaking another language or something.MouseBollocks wrote:snoop around Doom9 a bit

Yeah, it isn't particularly, but if you're looking for stuff on a specific topic it's probably the best resource out there. I definitely wouldn't recommended going there without at least giving the AV Guide a thorough read through, and getting somewhat familiar with avisynth.CrackTheSky wrote:Ok so it's not just me then.seasons wrote:Is this site noob-friendly or does it even try to be?
