Since General Discussion is obviously not going anywhere, why not unhide OT and add it as a subforum similar to the way Video Software Help was handled awhile back? If not, then why not at least make posts visible for search?
We're coming up on 12 years since OT/WOT/IAAM were closed, yet these still make up up to 15% of the posts on the site*. It goes without saying that OT was the social hub of AMV back then, which is millennia ago in Internet years. Besides being a cultural artifact, some of these hidden posts are important to users for sentimental reasons.
It's been bugging me for awhile but I've never been quite sure how to broach the subject, particularly since it's something that would cost the admins next to no effort yet would mean a great deal to some of us nostalgic plebs.
*assuming the majority of the discrepancy between the total posts statistic and the actual totals come from there

Re: OT Archive
I'll just address the postcount thing, but the largest chunk of that 15% comes from the Video Software Help Archive, with 6990 topics. OT contributes 2416 topics, and there's another 1970 in "It's all about me!". The only other archive section worth of note would be "Heads Up!" with 937 topics, but it's largely unrelevant since it was about informing on temporary deals and discounts which are by now no longer in place.

Re: OT Archive
As you can see here, we reopened General OT & It's All About Me! for read-only viewing in a new "Website Archive" section. Unfortunately, the then-administration deleted all of Way Off Topic and it appears that Internet Archive did not save any snapshots of the forums prior to the end of 2008, so that one is gone for good.

Re: OT Archive
Holy crap this is so cool. Thanks
WOT was pruned weekly (I think), so that's to be expected.Unfortunately, the then-administration deleted all of Way Off Topic
