Anime Company Sues Over AMV
Some guy made an AMV about an anime series. It gave a, umm, "inaccurate" portrayal of the series and the anime company is pissed. The say their sales could drop. And, of course, they want the movie pulled for inaccurate defamatory content or something.
Cease and desist, they scream...
Can someone say "jerk"?

"this one time...at band camp..."
I'd like to hear some particulars on this supposed, alleged case.
Right now it simply smacks of "I heard from a guy who knows a guy who read somewhere..."
What show, what AMV producer, which anime distributor?
Cheese and rice, I've been doing shit for over a decade and have never heard of a studio, producer, anyone getting a cease-and-desist letter or worse for making an AMV or parody. Only thing that comes close is Sherbert Studios' (overly cautious) policy of not distributing copies or showing their stuff at a con if anyone with rights to a show they parody is at said con.
