Need anime theme string quartet suggestions! Please!
Ok, so I have this little side job I do writing arrangements of anime themes for string quartets to play at anime conventions. We've decided we're actually going to record and sell a CD of these pieces, but the 10 pieces I've written already only fill about half the CD! So we need suggestions for what else should be written and included on the CD. If you have any favorite anime themes that you'd like to hear on this CD, make your voice heard now, and I might be willing to give out freebies to anyone who's suggestion is put on the CD...

Guilty...? Guillotine...? I don't get it... What does that have to do with this... Well, Mr. Negative, it was my impression that these forums were also for friends to discuss all sorts of things amongst themselves. I mean there's all sorts of non-"Audio Visual usage and encoding" topics on these forums, just look in the Off Topic forums. If this belongs there, perhaps a mod could move it, but I figured since I was asking for help about music then I should post it in the music forum. <shrug>post-it wrote:well isn't that bizzare - like requesting the guilty to step into the guillotine!
maybe I have this wrong but these boards are for helping people experiment with Audio Visual usage and encoding - not proffet and sales T_T
Besides, I'm not doing this for money, I'm doing it because I enjoy writing the music and I enjoy people enjoying it. Do you think me giving away free CDs is going to give myself much a profit? But maybe since post-it believes I'm evil or something, he'll just ruin it for everyone and I'll retract that offer unless he apologizes.

I don't think that he/she gets that you're going to be doing original arrangements for live musicians to play and record. As you can see from his or her post, there is not an absolutely secure grasp of English going on here, and you know how occasionally people on forums will reply without reading the original carefully, or even all the way through.
For the record: there's nothing legally wrong with this. Any arrangement that you make will be your own interpretation of the song, putting it alongside all those guitar tab archives as legal derivative works. And beyond that, anyone can cover anyone else's material, live or in the studio, as soon as the original version is released. Of course, you'll have to cite the original composers on the liner notes of any recording, but that's it.
It's not as though you're asking people for pirated recordings of anime themes to put on CDs for you to sell, which I think may have been post-it's misconception.

Shin Hatsubai is a Premiere-free studio. Insomni-Ack is habitually worthless.

I do not "apologize" to those who play with words - nor misleading Sales under Conceptsrurouni_trelane wrote:[since post-it believes I'm evil or something, he'll just ruin it for everyone and I'll retract that offer unless he apologizes.

wording anything as if hiding behind a closed door in plain sight will not correct misleading intentions - I may not understand the LAW in this country, but I can spot misrepresentation a mile away!Kai Stromler wrote:I don't think that he/she gets that you're going to be doing original arrangements for live musicians to play and record. . Rurouni_Trelane . . I enjoy selected cuts and well as the composing of music to many themes; in fact if you look at who did the Funeral March Music to Abe Lincoln and get a list of Whose Opera Lincoln was watching that night in the first place, then you would know to whome you are calling a kill-joy - you coward.
. Kai Stromler . . yes I did read what he said - completely; and even after he explained himself with your help to expand his concept, I still get the impression that his words are the Tales Of Salesmen - not an Artist.
I'll leave this to your thoughts, are these the words of a Salesman or Artist:

@,@ <blink blink> WHAT ON GOD'S GREEN EARTH ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT???
Wow, we've got a total mind-job on our hands here.
You have absolutely NO IDEA what you're talking about here. I have listened to various anime themes and transcribed them down into 4 parts that a string quartet can play. This is called an ARRANGEMENT. It is fully legal in the eyes of the law so long as permission is granted by the original author. We are the process of securing the rights to the pieces I've already arranged, and if there are any we can't get the rights to, they're not going on the CD. We have room for more songs on the CD, so I'm asking for any other suggestions to arrange and subsequently get the rights for. You tell me just what in the hell I'm "misrepresenting" here, and I'll gladly make it clearer for you. I'm not a salesman, I'm not even selling anything here! I was just asking for some help! DAMMIT are you so blinded by hatred for capitalism that you can't even tell when someone is making a simple, non-soliciting, plea for assistance?
Go look at my webcomic, http://www.nogameissacred.com . I'll send you MIDI files of the music I've written if you want. I am an artist, not a salesman, and I will defend that claim even if it were to end my life.
SO BACK THE F*CK OFF.
