That you got a 4 and a 3 - the average being 3.5, with stars the highest is a 5, the lowest is a 1, and you need 5 star counts (five people to have left stars) before you get on the 'top star list'.

But this should have gone in site help or general off topic or something...there's a thread in GOT about stars if you're curious. ^_^;;

Just leave it here - the mods should catch and move it when they get a chance.

And everyone who downloads a local link is required to leave stars - you can only download 10 vids before you *have* to leave stars. The people who give them are annonymous, though - you won't know who gave you what.

Does we all have to leave star ratings? I swear I've downloaded more than 10 vids and some of those don't have stars. I don't want to leave stars on those vids because for one reason or another I couldn't get the file to play and I've got no idea what star rating it deserves.

Well, you only give stars to local downloads. And you can have 9 vids without stars - when you get to 10 you have to give at least one star before you can download another local link.

And if you're in doubt about a star average - 3 is reasonable.

Ah that explains it I've only got two unstarred. But three isn't average a score of 2.5 would be but since we can't get that I suppose giving a three is nicer than a two.

Well, I base the average a little differently than 5/2 = 2.5. The way I see it, if you get a 5 and a 1, the high and low, your average is 3, if you get a 4 and a 2, the average is 3. If you're going through numbers you have the two high being good (4,5) and the two low being bad (1,2), so the only one in the middle - 3. I'd hate to give a vid a 2 because I didn't have the right codec to view it - and then find out it was a great vid and I killed the scores. So I see 3 as safe - anything lower means the vid is bad, higher would be saying it's very good, and I can't decide that if I haven't watched it. But I think too much. ^_^;

I didn't think of it that way but you are perfectly correct :) as usual. I'll keep that in mind should I ever have to give them stars but I think I'd rather leave it as unstarred and just hope I don't get many more like them.
