Beatles Project?
I enjoy alot of these multi-editor projects turning up (DDR comes to mind first and foremost), and I think it's a great trend in the amv community that skilled editors can get together and actually organize these things. I was wondering if anyone has ever done a Beatles project. The sole criteria being that you can use any anime to any song by the beatles or by one of the members solo acts. I think this would be a very interesting idea and probably turn up some great results if some good editors would get aboard. I'm aware that I don't have next to any influence in the community that would actually convince good editors that this would be a project worth pursuing or the abilities/influence to actually have the project displayed at a con, or something of that nature, but I think it would great if a project like this acually came into play. Any beatles fans out there think this would be a cool idea?
...Just a random thought by me.

But seriously. I like the concept, and would be interested at some point in time, absolutely. A few things though:
1. I am a n00b. In fact, I am working on my first video right now. This leads to #...
2. I wouldn't exactly add credibility to your project as such at this point in time. We'll put that up for review again after the response to my initial offering.
3. I already have two more videos in my head that must come out. Neither of them are Beatles tunes, but if I get a good idea I might move one of them down the queue.
But anyway. I guess you could say that I'm in. hmmm...now, what to do...

I'd suggest you stick to a particular album - otherwise you just have a bunch of people who feel like making vids around the same time, and not really a collaborative project. Though of course there's nothing wrong with just inspiring people to work on any particular band/anime/concept.
I've considered a "Dear Prudence" vid myself, but I can't really contribute anything to a collaborative effort, seeing as my skills are crap, as is my anime collection.

Seconded, good reasoning too.InvaderBen wrote:If I could, I suggest the White Album. The reasoning behind this is, in my opinion, it is the most diverse of the albums (and one of thier longest, barring the anthologies).
But what do I know.
Although if one person got REALLY ambitious a Sgt. Pepper series with a coherent thread through the whole thing would be quite a feat.

Ooohhhhh! I love it! But I'm not sure that it has to be just one person. A few poeple could do it. I like the idea of a collaborative effort. (Plus I'm not that ambitious. ) Oh, and sarah, I hope that my skills are as crap as yours are...SarahtheBoring wrote:Although if one person got REALLY ambitious a Sgt. True, a few people could do it if they decided on a theme beforehand. Or it could just be run like a usual collaborative project; I just like the idea of continuity.d_redguy wrote:Ooohhhhh! And no, actually my videos are crap; people who haven't seen them just assume they're good because I can post whole sentences on the forum.

Alright, so what do you suggest as a theme? Sgt. Pepper...um...SarahtheBoring wrote:True, a few people could do it if they decided on a theme beforehand. Or it could just be run like a usual collaborative project; I just like the idea of continuity.

<takes time out of post to pull up playlist>
OK, here is the playlist:
1. Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
2. With a Little Help from My Friends
3. Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds
4. Getting Better
5. Fixing a Hole
6. She's Leaving Home
7. Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite
8. Within You, Without You
9. When I'm Sixty-Four
10. Lovely Rita
11. Good Morning, Good Morning
12. Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (Reprise)
13. Day in the Life
At the moment, I can't see a common thread. But I can think of videos for most of those. Oh yeah, I'm percolating! OMG Day in the Life!! What a song! Let me stew on a theme. What did you have in mind?
Re: your crappitude. I watched "Like a Burning Star" again just now to be sure, and I have come to a conclusion: It doesn't suck. At all. And I barely understand Utena, having only seen the movie and then done a bit of research. My wife rented it and hated it. Somewhat ironically, I liked it. Oh, and "The Fly" was always completely underrated, IMHO.
