How did this get started?
I don't think this is answered on the site - i looked throught FAQS and Guides...
I was just wondering how anime music videos started. It's kind of a wacky idea when you step back think about it - but a wacky idea that was ingenious. I know that they were made before this website went up (in early 2001?) and I'm sure that a-m-v.org must have enabled a ton of more people to start creating and share their works better but....is there one person who first started making videos? Or maybe persons?
(*Hoping I put this in the right category*)

It's not that wacky of an idea if you think about it.
To quote from Calvin and Hobbes, I mean think about milking cows.
"Who was the guy who first thought: 'Hey I'll just squeeze these things here and drink whatever comes out'?"
Sure, that's not exactly how it happened but think about it. Makes AMVs sound a lot less wacky doesn't it?

Kusoyaro: We don't need a leader. We need to SHUT UP. Make what you want to make, don't make you what you don't want to make. If neither of those applies to you, then you need to SHUT UP MORE.

Cailet-You should watch Otaku no Video. Not only is it funny, but it kind of gives an idea to how certain hobbies dealing with anime arise: people just think them up. It's not too far-fetched to think that if they (i forget the pair's names suddenly) had kept going with their ideas that 'garage music videos' wouldn't have been far behind.

The first person to ever eat a lobster or crab must've been REALLY hungry.
I think Vlad Pohnert has been making videos since the mid-80's?
I believe it started sometime around the early 80's, maybe the stoners who swore that if you started Disney's Fantasia and Pink Floyd's "The Wall" at the same time they went perfectly together gave someone the idea...

I remember watching the valentine ones every year. They weren't great but I thought they were a neat idea

One word: Fantasia
"If someone feels the need to 'express' himself or herself with a huge graphical 'singature' that has nothing to do with anything, that person should reevaluate his or her reasons for needing said form of expression, possibly with the help of a licensed mental health practitioner."
