Virtual Dub doesn't make a Avi-File of Akira

when i try it (with the codec @ ermac and ad-guide) virtual dub starts the process.
when all frames are done i get an error message...
the quality-level is 6... the akira-avi-file is approx. 5gb big...
Trust me... my german is much better than my english. ^__^°

What version of Windows are you running?

If you're running Win98 or WinME and your file system is FAT32, your system won't be able to handle files that big.

Resize it to something like 480x270, 360x202 or 320x240.

but why i couldn't make a avi in the full resolution? >__<

Coz theres a fuckload more information in a 740x480 file than a 320x240 file. You do lose a fair bit of quality, but i reckon it's still more than watchable.

Don't worry, I do the same thing at home. I encoded Ghost In The Shell at 360x202 with 160kbps 16 bit audio, and it was till only about 400 mb. It also depends on the source as well. For some reason, an aussie movie called "Blurred" (its about schoolies week, but it isnt an action movie despite the racy title) hit over a gig at 320x240 for some insane reason.

jo, but in some situations the pics are hardly to recognize...
maybe because of the poor quality of the german dvd...
