Some Help with X-Vid would be much apreciated!
Ok let me describe the problem.
I finished my new AMV.
Using the guide about Avisynth and stuff, I have my ultra quality 2,4 Gb version of the Video. Now I try to compress it with the usual method via Vdub. When I get the First pass done(Using X-Vid with DIVX compatibility at the advanced settings), the file size is at about 48mb.The quality and size are like I want them to be, so I don't procced to the 2nd pass. After that I do a direct stream copy of the vid adding the sound of my vid with lame mp3 compression. The final product is exelent just at 50 mb size.
BUt there is this strange thing...If I normally playback the video everything goes smoothly. If I try to jump off at a point with the seekbar, everything gets a total mess. There is no sync with music and video anymore!!
I had this problem with my "nightmare" project, wich is up on the org, but realized it after I had the video up.
I don't want it in my new one , so please anyone HELP!!!!!
I apologize for the length of the mesage but I wanted everyone to fully understand the problem. If you still don't just bother and download "Nightmare".
And Please don't give me answers like : "forget X-Vid, go with compatibility of the Mpeg" ---- I love the quality outcome of X-Vid.

At the nightmare video it is very slight, that's why I didn't notice at first.
Just try to jump to the very fast scenes with the guitar toward the end . You will see that it is off for about half a second.
Remember...go with the seekbar don't just watch the whole thing!
Thanks for the effort and sorry to bother.

What method/utilities are you using to add the audio track to the video? The method you use may be what's causing the desynchronization.
Also, how fast is your computer and what are its specs? It's possible that your system is just too slow to decode the streams properly, if it's an older system.

Ok First question. I DO use VBR audio cause if I am not Mistaken that's the one preferable acording to the guide.
Second question. Like I said earlier to mix the audio with the video I use Vdub doing a direct stream copy. BUT at the same time I compress my WAV audio with Lame MP3
Lastly My COM SPECS are as follow:
INTEL CELERON 2.4 GHz
512 Mb Ram at 400
Asus Gforce mx 440 (64 DDR)
Creative Live 1024
I don't think anything else matters.
For Now I ll just try to not use VBR sound.
Any other thoughts are mostly welcome.

Sorry I'm not bitching or anything just trying to prevent confusion.the guide wrote:These mean as follows: 44.1KHz audio at 320kbits per second, Constant BitRate, Stereo. The eagle-eyed amongst you will notice that there are ABR (Average BitRate) options. This is a "good thing" and they actually work. I recommend choosing 160kbps ABR but anything 128 or higher will be "ok". If you can do 192 or higher then that would be even better but it depends on how much space you want to spend on your audio encode.
Hope it works for you

Ok I tryied doing it using :
48000 Hz 192 kbps CBR Stereo, 24 Kb/s
And works Fine now. Didn't affect the file size either and that's a good thing too.
Thanks for your time everyone... If you still can think of something better feel free to add. But I think this is ok don't you???
I apreciate all the help.
I just couldn't think it was a sound compression problem. Thanks...
