Need some help with effects (save the n00b!)

Post by Link293 » Sat Jan 17, 2004 10:03 am

I was watching Euphoria the other day and I'm currently working on an AMV, when I saw the cool bars that matched the beat of the song and other effects like the scope that goes accross the screen at the end, I was like "O_O!!! I WUNT SUM!!!!" I don't plan on copying Euphoria at all, I've just been searching for the scope effect for a long time (if you dont know what I mean by scope effect, its the sharp wavey lines the that move up and down in rythem with the music, but then again if you dont know what a scope is you probibly can't help me anyway XD)

I'm using Adobe Premiere 6.5, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance ^_^

P.S. If you haven't seen Euphoria there is something seriously wrong with you, or you have 56k (which is also very wrong), but I suggest you watch it, ultra-kickass ^.^ http://animemusicvideos.org/members/mem ... hp?v=15698

"Scope" could mean anything, including a brand of mouthwash.

The full word is "oscilloscope", IIRC.

Errr YEA, that thing, I only called it scope because when you open Windows Media Player the visualization for it is called "Scope" , sorry and thanks, altho that info really doesn't help much I'll be able to find a tutorial or something now that I know the full name for it. Thanks again.

I've heard people discuss this before, and IIRC, there's an oscilloscope effect in After Effects... but if there's one in Premiere, then I haven't found it or heard of it.

Or you could use a freeware desktop capture program called CamStudio and capture the oscilliscope in winamp or something and import that into premiere.

Here is a visualization I've made for the Advanced Visualization Studio in Winamp that produces a simple oscilliscope. Stick it in your Advanced Visualization Studio's plugin directory and open it in Winamp. Use CamStudio to capture it. Make sure the resolution that you capture at is in mulitples of 16.

If you have a slow computer forget about this post as it will require a lot of processing power.

This is how Koop did the oscilloscope effect:

He drew it.

In Paint.

It's not that hard -- you just need to know what a waveform looks like. Draw a few images and loop them.
