end of Evangelion (episodes 25 and 26) - confused

Post by The Hitokiri Battousai » Sat Feb 14, 2004 9:56 pm

k I can't explain on how confused on am. I just finished Neon Genisis Evangelion and my mind is boggled. What just happened there? What was the significance and all that stuff like Case 1 and 2 and stuff? Im talking bout episodes 25 and 26 what happened there.

Anyone who knows alot bout this, can you please explain what the heck happened?

hehe, boy, am I not surprised to see this reaction.

I hope some of the more enthusiastic people come up and explain it (Uncle Milo, where are you?), before the skeptics get around and proclaim these eps the worst things ever.

Essentially, my interpretation is that these are a direct depiction of what the characters, mainly Shinji, are going through internally.

I don't think I want to go into detail myself. I've been too impressed by them on a purely artistic level to try and dictate them in some dry analytical sort of way.
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

Otohiko, I don't think a dry analysis of the finals episodes of Evangelion is even possible. Well, not a coherent one that covers all the possabilities. It's just too.... Chaotic and confusing, I guess. My impression was of one designed, in part, to cause confusion in the viewer, which it does admirably.

watch "End of Evangelion": it's much easier to understand.

Maybe because (spoiler)
they are all dying in the most violent and fucked up way in EoE?

You know though, I liked EoE as a movie, but all through it, I couldn't help thinking that I preferred 25 and 26 as the ending...

....until like, the last few seconds. :P

Yea, EoE is closer to what most people would have expected Eva to end like (and it is, in essence, an alternative version of eps. 25 and 26). Well, besides, perhaps, the fact that it really goes overkill in places

x2 i prefer the original ending much more...mostly

However, if this makes sense, I find the movie more entertaining to watch.

Heh. I don't know if I can say 'entertaining'

I remember when I realized that, in making my latest AMV, I had to watch pretty much the whole thing in slo-mo :?

But actually, I enjoyed that more than I expected :D

Still, in terms of confusedness - I still wouldn't say EoE goes too much farther than 25/26.

I think for a lot of people, they would've been much happier were the series to end at ep. 24.

I'm not one of these people :P

I don't complain about episode 25 and 26....it's just more of the mental stuff you see in End of Eva and none of the action. That whole "what do you want?" bit.
