adding fading text to video

is there any way on premeire or vdub/nandub to have text fade into the video and then fade back out? i want to try to include lines from a poem in my next AMV like this....

On premiere... just use the rubberband to set the opacity level...

Or if you have Premiere Pro, put the text in an empty track and put cross-dissolves at the beginning and end of it. If you don't want it to fade all the way in, go to the clip's Effect Controls window and lower the opacity.

You can use the logo filter with Virtualdub to do that, just create a bmp image with the text, then use the logo filter to fade in and out as desired.
