dvd footage to video file

is there a way to convert dvd footage to video files without a dvd drive? a program i could buy or download maybe?

If you've got a capture card, you could try hooking up your DVD player and capturing the footage, though of course the quality won't be as good as it would be if you got a DVD drive and ripped it.

Aren't DVD-ROM drives pretty cheap these days?
