1) Objectivity OMG. Best plots, hard to judge; but signs point to 'unlikely'

2) And here I was thinking that when something happens in DBZ the common practice is when something happens...

people make fun of it because:

1) the fights are generally at least 3 episodes long, they only take a couple of pages in the manga, thus it's unneccesarily long.

2) the storyline repeats itself over and over again, for the most part, the only real difference being how they get more power and who kills who.

3) Funimation butchered the dub

4) DBGT sucked ass: the characters changed, goku got ridiculously powerful, even for dragonball he's ridiculously strong, nothing really interesting happened.

5) the dragonballs are an annoying story mechanic: they allow anyone to die with no real fear of staying dead, unlike other series. Thus the ability to be killed is pointless.

The only thing good about DBGT is the fact that the evil dragons came from overusing the dragonballs, so at least there was some sort of punishment for using them. However, Goku just beats them up too. All in all, db/z/gt is a decent series. As for the making fun of it; we're not laughing at it, we're laughing with it!

I'm not sure how much anime you've seen (I'm assuming you haven't seen too much, compared to other forum members anyway). It's probably safe to say that there are many anime that have better plots than DB/Z/GT. Going with my assumtion above, if you expand your horizons beyond dragonball, you'll find that there are plenty of anime that have better storylines.

The only people I have seen make fun of it are the ones who don't like it.I have seen alot of anime since I got into anime and still to me nothing beats Dragonball Z and theres are so many trues fans to dbz,alot of them are still wishing for another series to come out,Even though to me Gt isn't horrible its just after Akira left the Characters Personalities changed and it wasn't the same anymore.They could have done alot of things to make Gt good instead of making it so crazy.
