The official Japanese website for Saishu Heiki Kanojo (SaiKano) has announced the development of a new OAV series. Details including production staff, story outline, and rough production art will be revealed to the public at the Comic Market 67 convention to be held in Tokyo, December 29-30.

Even though I haven't finished watching Saikano, I can tell that the TV series will have a heart-ache, depressing closure (heck, I'm having a hard time watching th first 4 episodes). So I'm just wondering, is this OVA series necessary? Anyone who saw all of Saikano, was there any plot holes worth mentioning? I'm just curious of what possible storyline this OVA is going to be about.

Considering exactly how the story ends, I don't see how an OVA series can be done. There's just too much closure in the original story.

I have to agree...Saikano pretty much wraps itself up. It followed the Manga well, i think trying to create more OAVs would be riding on the coattails of the popularity of the first series.

And if the first 4 eps depressed you, you may rething finishing it..

It'll be interesting to see what direction they go with it. Prequel, alternate ending, true sequel ? Maybe even a retelling with the focus on a different character. My curiosity has certainly been piqued.

The best thing i can think they would do is just take the characters, because they are all likeable, and throw them into an alternate WAR-FREE life, and just watch the fun and drama!

That would be the best thing ever.

SPOILER WARNING

The second best thing ever would be if the OVA were about the adventures of Shuji wandering around in the snow :P
I have no idea how to use this new forum.

I've been watching this in my spare time, and it does give you that feeling of being depressed. I both love and hate anime like this cause for one, it just adds to the story and possiby gives you another view on life, but at the same time, the story doesn't progress a lot, but SaiKano did a good job moving it along.

Or perhaps the part of the war on the other side of the planet? (Far-fetched idea, I know)

But an OVA. Hmm. Maybe they could do it on how Chise got her... problem... to begin with. If it is a direct continuation, a really don't see were it can go. I'd like to see an alternate ending, but I doubt it.

The sword at last must win,
Today is gone, and yesterday,
Must echo in the wind.
