Non Japanese Artist?

Post by Evangelion Unit 01 » Wed Mar 02, 2005 3:24 pm

Well, I am not one of them, my best drawings are stick figures. I do have friends that can draw anime very well, who are not Japanese, and I wanted to know if there is anyway for them to gain that dream; to move over to Japan and acctually become an anime artist, and have their own manga, or TV series. So is there away?

Even if you had the will, and knew the way, getting there is the hard part. :|

there is one way I know of to get a manga, Rising Stars of Manga (Tokyopop, US only) holds a contest yearly.

You can also try here (also Tokyopop, but from anywhere)

Well my friend's motto is....

If at first you don't succede, Deny you ever tried in the first place.

But seriously, go some of those How To Draw Manga books and practice your ass off. I you become good that is awsome. If you don't, you now have a funny hobby to do on the side. :D

Considering Japanese societal norms, I have major doubts that a foreigner would ever become a big name in the anime/manga scene in Japan.

I had the same idea, but I'm just saying how you could be published on this side of the Pacific.
