Film/Video Festival competition

I didn't know where to post this since there isn't a general anything forum, but this seemed like the next best thing. Since I know a bunch of you are into filmmaking, I wanted to throw it out there that at my school (Western Connecticut State University) I am helping to organize our first annual Film and Video festival. If anyone is interested in submitting here is the deal:

Introducing the first annual WestConn Film and Video Festival, Trailblazers: The New Pathway for Film & Video , open to independent and student film/video producers. The purpose of the festival is to promote and acknowledge the creative and technical pursuits of student and independent film/video artists. Throughout the weeklong festival there will be daily screenings, guest lectures and panel discussions about the art of film and video. The festival will run from Monday, May 2nd through Saturday, May 7th, 2005.

Categories and Entrance Fees (all fees are non refundable)

• Narrative Short (under 30 minutes): $20
• Documentary Short (under 30 minutes): $20
• Animation (under 30 minutes): $20
• Music Video/Experimental (under 30 minutes): $20
• Junior High/High School (under 30 minutes): $20

Prizes will be awarded as follows:

1. One Grand Jury Award, recognizing the top film/video overall
2. One WestConn - Ace Award for the top film/video in each category
3. One WestConn - Prestige Award for each of the following categories, Best Editing, Best Cinematography, Best Writing
4. One Community Awareness Award, for the film/video promoting social, political, or cultural awareness in the community
5. One WestConn - Prodigy Award, for the Best Junior High or High School entry.
