Question about Vegas 4.0 Preview

I've been having a problem, since the new video im making has alot of small edits, and scenes,( like .5 seconds long) they never show up in the preview, it just kinda skips the scene, but still plays the music, the only way i've been able to see what I just edited is to render the movie as an avi, and look at it in Media Player. My firend told me it was probably my ram, and processor speed, but i have 1.5 gig's ram, and 3.1 GHz processor... can anyone help?

Shift+M to prerender a selection.
