Always in My Heart - Otakon 2005 Romance Entry

Post by dwchang » Tue Aug 23, 2005 1:57 pm

So I'm finally back home (after a long drive yesterday) and figured I should join in on the Otakon AMV release wagon ;).

Anyway, here was my Romance entry into the contest. As you can expect, it's to an 80's love ballad and quite sappy (even for me ) so I don't expect everyone to enjoy it. If you thought Bakadeshi's entry was sappy well...yeah >_>. Let that be your warning :P.

Title: Always in My Heart
Artist: Chicago
Song: You're the Inspiration
Video Source: Vision of Escaflowne, Fushigi Yuugi, Ah! My Goddess, Ai Yori Aoshi, Final Fantasy X and X2

I don't expect everyone to read my giant video descriptions, so yes, I realize the beginning portion may seem a wee bit familiar, but it's intentional. I also realize the concept (?) is pretty one-sided, but given the lyrics of the song that should be expected. And well, this is me we're talking about -_-;;.

And as a few folks have noted, my apparent reign of terror at Otakon is over :P. *insert cheers* Bakadeshi, myself and other talented editors were literally murdered by (imo) a comedy video and in turn I will try the opposite to see if it holds.

So doki and suberunker: I'm coming for you with a Romance video in Comedy in Otakon 2006!

;)

Lastly, thanks to everyone who helped me with this video including AtomX, MeriC, silver_moon, Corran, Rozard and Castor Troy.

I hope you enjoy it!
-Daniel

haha... *pats DWchang consolingly*

Next year I'll probably be in either Action or comedy though, I have a few ideas I want to try ;p

Video was sappy as hell, but I personally didn;t like it as much as some of your other vids, mostly because certain sources (that you obviously choose for a reason ^_-) clashed with some of the others to me. As always good editing though ;p I realy thought yours was going to get second place, but I guess SnhKnives pulled ahead with ancient technology and FLCL ;p

I REALLY loved this video. It worked very nicely, and your transition into the FFX clips from regular anime were so smooth. I really liked most of the romance videos, but this one was definitely a fav. Very nice work.

Note to me: Horray for Chicago. Well I liked the overall atmosphere of the video altogh I normally don't really like romance videos. But the sceneselection and the use of that much different sources is a bit distracting.

Well honestly it's not my favorite vidoe either :P. Just and idea I had that kinda fit my "trend" :P. Actually the most prominent complaint I got through beta-testing is the clashing of sources which to some degree I agree with.

Oh well...

Castor *YOU'RE* teh inspiration

...and yeah I missed A LOT of beats which is uncharacteristic to a timing whore like me :P.

Thanks! I was very worried about the transition and hence used a glow effect-thing to make it a bit more smooth.

In any case, it was nice meeting you at Otakon.

Yes, Chicago does in fact rock. Both the city and the band ;).

Yeah, not your best video but it's definately a damn good one. I liked the overall tone and the very slick editing. Plus I'm a bit of a sucker for these romance videos. :)

My best friend is a big fan of OMG and Escaflowne, as well as Peter Cetera so she was once again singing your praises! (I think you've got a fangirl on your hands...:))
