Anime adaptation of Idoru

Post by Tsunami Jones » Mon Apr 24, 2006 1:07 pm

Saw this on ANN and thought it was pretty keen: http://www.nowplayingmag.com/content/view/3595/2/

Although I think from that series All Tomorrow's Parties would make a better anime, but that wouldn't make much sense without Virtual Light and Idoru :o

I want to see the entire Sprawl trilogy as anime. Molly would be an awesome anti-heroine, just as Case is an awesome anti-hero.

And don't forget how much fun Armitage would be. And Wintermute. And the loa.

Good info, but I'm still skeptical. I'd rather see Gibson's stories in live action. "Mnemonic" done right would be a good start.

That link had another link about a live action Star Blazers.

Despite it's problems, I still thoroughly enjoy it. I just wish that Molly Millions had actually been in it :?

Now that one cyberpunk author is getting the anime treatment, hopefully Stephenson won't be far behind... I still say Snow Crash would make a great 13-ep series.

Hmm, you guys read the same books I do. Or "did". I'm ignoring Stephenson's latest series; I only made it through Cryptonomicon by force of will.

That's one of several complaints. Mostly it just didn't have that cyberpunk atmosphere (contrast with Bladerunner).

It'll be interesting if (when?) the day comes that allows an individual or a small group of fans to make credible animated adaptations of their favorite novels. Without spending half a lifetime on one.
