Compression
Ok, this has been driving me nuts as of recent. I used the AMVapp, I ripped my vids, VDubMod to get my clips, went to Premiere and did my editing. Exported. Well, the stand alone file is 130meg. It's a 2min and 36sec AMV (give or take the seconds). Now, I went back to VDub Mod and I was trying to compress it. The final product wouldn't play in any of my players (ATI, WMP, CMP, and DivX) because I thinkin I did something wrong with the codecs? I ended up reinstalling and it plays but still the problem of it not compressing would keep occuring. So VDub Mod kept producing a file larger than the orginal. It went from 130meg to 177meg. It gained weight! . I tried MPeg comression.....it ruined the timing of my video. Any suggestions?

premeire sucks at compression, you might need to export it useing the uncompressed option. That is changeing it from Microsoft DV (which it may have defaulted to) to Microsoft video than go to the video tab and make sure it says uncompressed.
Than, useing VDubMod, compress it to Xvid. AND DON'T FORGET TO COMPRESS YOUR AUDIO!! You may need an mp3 audio codec like Radium or whatever... I dunno what it says in the guides about this.
Anyway this totally shoulda' been in the help forum.

Tell me about it So many headaches can be avoided by just exporting as uncompressed... except the whole "huge file" thing. But HDDs are cheap nowadays, so it really doesn't matter.Zarxrax wrote:Usually a bad idea if its premiere pro.DJ_Izumi wrote:You may want to export from premiere using lossless compression instead of uncompressed. -.-;

Really? That sucks. I"m still on 6.5, but was looking forward to going Pro before too long. What other optoins can you use then to export succesfully?BasharOfTheAges wrote:Tell me about it So many headaches can be avoided by just exporting as uncompressed... except the whole "huge file" thing. I've just been exporting my betas compressed with huffy, (sometimes uncompressed) but from time to time I"ll get some mono-colored distortion in some of my frames (usually on extremely fast frames, or on frames that have a flash, like that from a gunshot)...but this only occurs on the top of the frames.
but if you have the money to drop for the upgrade version, you might as well save up for another HDD (internal or external)
got mine from best buy for $80 (120 GB Westren Digital external usb) after rebates of course
